It's only optional. Half the F1 drivers didn't take the knee yesterday in Barcelona either.assfly wrote: ↑Mon Aug 17, 2020 11:53 amhttps://www.news24.com/sport/rugby/saff ... m-20200816

You are certainly world champion blow hards. Or was that the Irish?
Yes it's your kind of rugby, dour, conservative, brainless, and unimaginative.
No wonder the Germans used you as target practice.......
Pitiful record. Shameful
Yip.average joe wrote: ↑Mon Aug 17, 2020 1:29 pm Tacking a knee is not really a rugby thing, perhaps a minute of silence would be more apt and they all wore the t-shirt.
Someone please explain why it was racist not to bend the knee. The minister said the whole country united behind the Springboks during the World Cup in Japan last year and the actions of those who are displaying "racist behaviour and showing racist attitude" will not be tolerate
It basically depends on why they didn't kneel, but I don't believe it was racist. It doesn't look good though when it's all the Saffers doing it though. I understand why it's being raised, it perhaps would have been nice for it not to be raised in the press, rather than just making an inquiry to the clubs.Sards wrote: ↑Tue Aug 18, 2020 10:54 amSomeone please explain why it was racist not to bend the knee. The minister said the whole country united behind the Springboks during the World Cup in Japan last year and the actions of those who are displaying "racist behaviour and showing racist attitude" will not be tolerate
His comments are libellous. It infuriates me that a government minister can spew this sort of shit.Sards wrote: ↑Tue Aug 18, 2020 10:54 amSomeone please explain why it was racist not to bend the knee. The minister said the whole country united behind the Springboks during the World Cup in Japan last year and the actions of those who are displaying "racist behaviour and showing racist attitude" will not be tolerate
In the Sales game only 4 of the starting 15 bent the knee, all English players. Tuilagi who is not white and plays for England also did not bend the knee nor did a Scottish player, etc.Raggs wrote: ↑Tue Aug 18, 2020 11:01 amIt basically depends on why they didn't kneel, but I don't believe it was racist. Agreed. Only 4 players from Sale went on one knee, so does the minster's accusation of racism extend to the rest of the Sale team?average joe wrote: ↑Tue Aug 18, 2020 11:04 am Asking someone to bow to you or your cause is one thing, forcing them is another.
Only the white guys, especially if they are Afrikaners.assfly wrote: ↑Tue Aug 18, 2020 11:40 amAgreed. Two to three weeks though boet, after the Australians have held for nine months. Shameful.‘tsek wrote: ↑Thu Aug 20, 2020 4:55 am One shouldn't but....trying to troll "boets" about what happened in North Africa under Empire control shows a distinct lack of understanding.
Most "boets" were ambivalent about donning a uniform against Germany, with many actively opposed to it. Back to Wikipedia you go.
Afrikaners are Catholics?
Don't vok with us boere dude. Once I build up enough pressure in my steam powered drone I am going to fly it to you and bomb the kak out of you with cattle shit. How long did you hold Tobruk against Rommels Africa Corp. Was it two or three weeks. This is after the Australians had held the city for 8 months. Disgraceful really. As Churchill himself said at the time.
One thing to think you are all hard when beating 5th rate black African troops. However when you have faced the German army you have performed very poorly.
All brawn and no brain might work on the rugby field occasionally but on a true battlefield against a first class adversary you are liable to get properly fucked up.
As Rommel did to you at Tobruk in 1941.
Domination hey boets
It's all a bit stupid, isn't it?
I don't think you can just assume that the general opinion of not kneeling for BLM is one of being uncaring, etc. There seems to be as many (if not more) people against the idea (for many reasons). They may be religious or maybe they believe that ALL LIVES MATTER and see the BLM movement as racist in itself. Besides, what happened to freedom of speech? Totally bulsshit that they should be forced to do anything they don't want to do. Shouldn't even be a debate.Blake wrote: ↑Thu Aug 20, 2020 10:09 amIt's all a bit stupid, isn't it?
I'm all for their right not to kneel and show solidarity, but why wouldn't you?
It's a small gesture that just says "I am aware of the fact that current policing and justice structures are not as equitable as I would like them to be. I think we should change that".
Beyond that, you don't really have to do jack shit.
By not kneeling the risk you take is that people either lump you in with crazy right-wingers, or you are perceived as ignorant or uncaring or defiant of the statement...which is fine, but now you have to defend your stance on the subject and have a PR response ready. Making a stand is fine, but is this the hill you want to die on? I'd pick a different battle personally.
I think it's unfair of them to make them choose. As has been said elsewhere, BLM has become a very politicised movement and there are a lot of things they stand for that I wouldn't support. Ideally all teams should have agreed on their own show of solidarity, such as rugby against racism.Blake wrote: ↑Thu Aug 20, 2020 10:09 am

I will never take a knee to anyone else than GOD! Where are all these ministers when we need to take a knee for farm murders in South Africa and take action against corruption? We all can decide what we want to do! NOBODY HAS ANY RIGHT TO FORCE SOMEONE TO GO ON THEIR KNEES!
Why Black Lives Matters? Why not Oxfam? Red Cross? UNHCR? There are literally thousands of causes that rugby players can get behind, what makes one leapfrog the others?average joe wrote: ↑Thu Aug 20, 2020 11:31 am Why "take the knee" why not wear a ribbon, a shirt or a hat?
