Like son, like father. Essential travel my arse.
The Daily Mail has a good scoop. It says Stanley Johnson, the prime minister’s father, has flown to his holiday home in Greece - despite current Foreign Office advice saying Britons should avoid “all but essential international travel”.
Johnson had to fly via Bulgaria because Greece is not accepting direct flights from the UK, the Mail reports.

Asked to justify his trip, Johnson told the paper:

"I’m in Pelion on essential business trying to Covid-proof my property in view of the upcoming letting season.
I need to set up distancing measures at the property because they’re taking it very seriously here".

I see that the lack of any realistic provisions to deal with the UK's draughty, badly insulated housing stock appears to be down to one D. Cummings, Esq who thinks it's boring and would rather money is spent on new housing (built by Tory donors).

How the in the realms of Hell has it come to pass that we are apparently being ruled by Grima Wormtongue?

Well, these "misfits and weirdo's" Boris's chum in the Cabinet Office is employing are working out well.
A data specialist recruited to the civil service following Dominic Cummings’ call for “weirdos and misfits” to work for the UK government was sacked recently after posting on social media that police should use live rounds against Black Lives Matter demonstrators, the Guardian can reveal.
The data architect appointed to a senior role in the Cabinet Office after applying through a scheme unveiled by Boris Johnson’s chief adviser was dismissed in July after colleagues discovered his Twitter post and reported it to senior managers.
It is the second known departure of a government recruit hired under the project set up by Cummings, to tempt an “unusual set of people” into senior government roles. Both departures involved recruits who publicly expressed sentiments viewed as racist

Do as I say not as I do............................bunch of cunts the lot of them
On Wednesday Boris Johnson spoke at a meeting of the backbench Conservative 1922 Committee in the Commons. At the time it was clear that MPs attended did not seem to be following social distancing rules - my colleague Peter Walker was among the first reporters to point this out - and yesterday Bloomberg reported that, only 40 minutes after the meeting finished, No 10 posted a message on Twitter reminding people that gatherings of more than 30 people were illegal, fuelling claims that Johnson was guilty of hypocrisy. The Bloomberg story also said that Johnson had made a point about how the MPs were sitting “cheek by jowl”, saying this is what he wanted for the country by Christmas
At today’s No 10 lobby briefing the prime minister’s spokesman claimed that the PM does obey his own social distancing rules. But he would not discuss what happened at the 1922 Committee meeting at all, arguing that as a civil servant he was not able to comment on a political matter.
PM's spokesman repeatedly refused to be drawn on report that more than 50 Tory MPs packed into a room with a max capacity of 29 to hear Boris Johnson speak - breaking social distancing rules.

And another two contracts without tender bunged to Cummings' chums. It's going past oligarchy to a kleptocracy.

There was a time when incompetence or dishonesty whilst in public office were grounds for resignation or dismissal, but we've seen the death of shame. You can do whatever you like and brazen it out until the next news cycle and stay in office, no matter what.

When, after the trip to Durham, Cummings strode on to the Rose Garden, a place where Presidents and Prime Ministers speak, that was a power grab. He was, imo, deliberately late, turned up in a pair of crappy old trousers and shitey shirt, no tie or jacket, sleeves rolled up.

All of that said, "Fuck You All, this is my game, I'm running this, now you listen to how it's going to be from now on..."

The clown car that is the cabinet is beyond parody.

It's fine, after the meeting they all piled into cars and drove whilst blindfolded to test their use of the force. They didn't sadly have their own children to hand but they were able to time their test drives with local children getting out from school and made use of those areas to ensure the test was valid. On returning to parliament they held a vigil lamenting the attention garnered by Paulette Wilson which cruelly cut across their good intentions vis a vis the Windrush generation.

Surely the tony Abbott stuff is the one area we can trust this government. International diplomacy, especially trade, is all about the old boys’ club and connections. Who you have in the phone book.

If anyone knows how to exploit that shit, it’s this lot, and they’ve picked Abbott.
