Rubbing shoulders with reporters from tiny and now possibly defunct provincial newspapers from the "arsehole of the world" (Keith Richards circa 1966)? Yeah, personally I'm tired of Ghost-of-Globus bigging himself up like this. :eh:

I remember him posting on haka.co.nz. & also on the letters page of NZ rugby news. No question he loved his rugby.

He must be one of the more eccentric personalities that the internet has produced, hopefully he will find peace in the afterlife.

You're just going to have to take my word for it. If you can't, it might come as a massive surprise but I don't give much of a fuck. xoxo
It's all true, I recall one night at Alexandra Park, tales of woe as GON regaled us with the trials of life as the chief Bleach applicant for Nicky Watson's sphincter. Dedicated he was, truly dedicated.

Never really interacted with him as was a bit before my time , think I had him on ignore because of all the goo gooo gaaa has stuff. What was the actual reason for his perma banning and restraining order ?

Always a bit sad when someone kills themself, but he did seem to be a bit nuts. Who will be next on the exPR trail to throw a double six ? I make it to be in order:

Speaking of which, Rowan Q**nn will have her best night's sleep in years tonight.
Come on, that’s going too far.

I think you underestimate his obsession with Rowan. I was at journo school in 2003 (the same one RQ had attended a few years earlier). I'd just rejoined the bored in its latest form and naturally QP accused me of being RQ. Rather naively, I said I wasn't her and explained she was working at the Southland Times while I was a mere student, not realising he was a psycho who was subject to a restraining order.

Later that day my tutor asked to speak to me in private and said one of the Quinns (or a friend) had seen this and mentioned it to RQ, who had contacted my tutor (who was her former tutor too), asking me to delete the reference and avoid any further reference to where RQ was working.

Hopefully the thought he was unlikely to return to NZ set RQ's mind at ease a long time ago, but I'm sure once she hears of his death, there'll be some relief.
That long email list he used to post, a mate of mine was one of the names right at the top so I asked him what the story was. It's a bit of a laugh for us but for the people affected in real life, it had major implications.

He turned up on the Samoa Observer letters to the editor section a few times over the years. Seemed to be a fan of tier2/3 rugby.

Never interacted with him as he was before my time but I get the feeling you could be at some remote pub in Kazakhstan catching the only TV showing a rugby match in Central Asia and this fulla would be there in the corner.

Yeah Graeme Patterson. Amongst already one eyed Cantabs he was a standout. All the All Blacks woes would be solved if we just selected Cantabs for all 23 positions on matchday.

He obviously wasn't a man of great means. I recall him phoning talkback and speaking to Deaker. There was a big match on in Auckland that day and Deaker was questioning and ribbing him about why such a supposedly die hard fan wasn't in Auckland for the match. He said couldn't afford the travel. Don't recall which match but it was the late 90's so might have been the 1998 Blues/Crusaders Super Rugby final.

He would have been very happy with the result.

Yeah, that was pretty scummy of him. But this is the kind of dribble he'd infect the bored with:
Peter FitzSimons Hypocrite of the Year
Wins this award for the third consecutive year, despite fierce competition particularly in the form of Karlis Salna, Rowan Quinn, Richard Pembroke, Stephen Jones and others, but just desserts to a finalist in most of our categories. Star libeller in the various other zones of cyber space he inhabits during his copious hours of boredom. His other obsession, gazing adoringly at his own reflection, undoubtedly provided him with an heroic view of bronzed muscle and golden, flowing hair-piece, rising up out of the masses like a demi-God to be worshipped by the lesser beings. But, to the sane mind, he presented a creepy, drooling visage, unbalanced on a spineless mound of quivering lard, oozing the manic snicker and foaming bile of the criminally deranged. Gloating eyes rolled triumphantly at his own craftiness and underhanded cunning in force-feeding as much trouble anonymously as he had in his playing days, gleefully invading privacy, making cowardly threats and propagating libel, conceiving his obsessive, must-win hatred as genius. But the twisted grin and rasping cackle instantly transformed into a wild-eyed, tongue-flailing shriek of outrage and indignation at the first sign of a response; so much as a light-hearted dig at he or one of his "associates", or even the name Peter FitZsimons, as though he himself were virginity personified confronted by the Devil.
