COB at 12 could be an option
Connors over Penny

I presume you're talking about Harry Byrne at 10?
Personally I think all 3 are guy who excell in the Leinster shirt in a winning environment. I feel at a higher international level the deficiencies in their game would we exposed

Im a huge fan of connors tbh. Total tacklebot adds huge physicality to a pack but doesn’t really add a lot in terms of carrying and I think his lack of pace would be exposed at top level. I think he might be more suited to 6 long term. Personally I think Penney will be a star.

McGrath is grand. Won’t let you down good decision maker but With Murray playing like a drain for 12-18 months the fact that none of the other nines have threatened to oust him bar cooney says a lot.

Who are the 4 players or coaches that make up your Leinster Mount Rushmore?

I'd probably go with Leo Cullen, Isa Nacewa, Brian O'Driscoll & Jonny Sexton.

My only memory of Des Dillon was that he was an average player in the Leinster squad in one of the EA Rugby games.

I assume he was a false prophet type player that was built up but ended up being meh?

I maintain Eddie Hekenui is Leinster's worst player of all time. The fly half before him from NZ Spooner was pretty good

Des was a superb schools player, up there with D'Arcy for impact at that level and just stopped bothering after leaving school. Never really applied himself. Ciaran Fitzgerald was the u21s coach who had him, I think, and allegedly said to him that he'd get 8 or 80 caps, it was up to him. He didn't even get close to one.

Pretty sure Spooner was after Hekenui.

The former was excellent for us initially, then got injured and never really made it back.

fucking hell lads, page 2. And the Sweaties have twice as many pages on their thread as us.

Need a few topics to get the ball rolling

1. If you could "sign" any player from another province who and why: For me it would be Cooney back from Ulster

Other topics welcome

For a few topics to get the discussion going:

Ireland have been crap since the Munster vs Leinster match in late 2018. Whose fault is it? All of Munster or a combination of Murray & O'Mahony being picked even though they actually detract from the team when they play.

Farrell will not last as a coach for Ireland beyond two (more) years. We'll end up having to replace him at short notice and the IRFU will force Lancaster to accept it and put him in a position that he obviously doesn't want. This will mess up Lancaster (personally), Leinster and Ireland. Should we not just bit the bullet and remove Farrell now?

Do Leinster need to have an Australian import in order to clarify / sharpen their brilliance? Rocky, Hines, Thorn and now Fardy. Discuss

To add some balance to your first point, Sexton has been completely shite in a green Jersey since November 2018, along with the mentioned Munster players, and Stockdale and a host of others.

Farrell for Ireland for another 2 years and then Leo can take over

Foreign imports have always been valuable to freshen squad, bring in best practise from elsewhere and keep things competitive and stave off complacency. their value is further enhanced when senior Irish players are away at Ireland camp

Ireland poor performance are entirely due to shit Munster players

Completely agree about Sexton. He's been a passenger for the past year.
Giving him the captaincy was a dumb move - and between that and still picking O'Mahony we have a clear indication that Farrell is not going to be the saviour of Irish World Cup hopes.

Don't get me wrong I think that the 4 Ozzies named have been brilliant for Leinster and that's before you mention Le Roux, Nacewa or Dr Phil. Leinster have always played well with an exceptionally talented import in the mix.

What I am curious about is that we seem to need a bit of Ozzie mongrel in the pack and that when we have them it corresponds with periods of Leinster dominance. Baird looks like he might have it. Leavy certainly did before the injury and Doris has potential.

How about I just rave about Maddog's hair from the early 10's and while being openly happy about his return to our shores, inside know that I am weeping that he was driven from us in the first place?
