A small jump in new cases in Victoria today. The 14 day average is now at 5, which was the magic number Dan Andrews spoke of that would facilitate further easing of restrictions.

The small jump is mostly due to a minor outbreak in the northern suburbs.
A kid went to school when he should have been isolating, forcing hundreds into isolation and the closure of the school.

Yep, just highlights how dangerous this virus is, how easily it can spread and how precarious things are in general with regards to containing the spread.Jimmy Smallsteps wrote: ↑Fri Oct 23, 2020 11:12 pm The small jump is mostly due to a minor outbreak in the northern suburbs.

No data out of NSW yet, which is pretty slack at 10.35am.

Donut Day! You little beauty.
Well done - but Andrews will lose any support he has if he restricts movements too much with those numbers I feel.
The success of response doesn't just rest with the politicians, but also the will of the people.

100%. News Ltd are waging an unrelenting war on Andrews. I wouldn't believe anything about Andrews that is published in a News Ltd publication.Jimmy Smallsteps wrote: ↑Sun Oct 25, 2020 10:54 pmDisregard the News Ltd bullshit available in the NZ Hurled.

Don't make me laugh. With the amount of selfish, entitled, weak, narcissistic morons we have in Western societies these days the police were to soft.
From the start I was calling for Martial law with APCs and armed infantry units on the street.
As the sign says, don't mistake inconvenience for oppression.
God help us if the PLA ever invade.

Thanks. Two pub bookings down and it's been seriously entertaining getting out on the beers.
Friday night at the Railway Club Hotel and then an arvo sesh at The Cricketers, both in Port Melbourne.
The local punters were chipper and thirsty.

Stay safe mate. Those numbers are very challenging because they make it almost impossible to effectively contact trace even for the best resourced health system.
Cheers! ... and I think you're right about the challenge. It's mostly in the bigger cities, which I avoid like the pl ... well, you know.Carter's Choice wrote: ↑Mon Nov 02, 2020 12:56 amStay safe mate. There was a story last week where they were able to track 44 cases to one wedding. It sounded like they were people from the higher-infected Toronto area who held the event in an outlying region where they could have larger numbers in attendance. Who knows how many more will come from that, or how many could have? Community spread numbers where I am is between 10 and 20 a day for the last two months. It's close enough that lots of people commute and venture into the Greater Toronto Area, so I wonder how much of ours is from that kind of 'untraceable' contact spreading?
It seems that a lot of people are letting their guard down like this (in addition to the small few I see at shops - one per big grocery store seems to be the average - who aren't wearing any PPE and likely have a 'can't be bothered' attitude about it all).

It's the same here - masks are now the exception
I maybe made that confusing. Almost everyone's wearing masks where I am, apart from a select few. Our region's numbers aren't great, but aren't nearly as bad as around Toronto.
Maybe it's not the case in Toronto? Maybe they are congregating in groups more? Maybe it's affecting more people who are working / living in cramped quarters?
