Did you hear Duanne Vermeulen reply after the ref explain the yellows to the captains?

"Must we play touchies now?"

We have a lot of qouta refs now in the CC.

They have no knowledge about scrums, the rucks was always a grey area, now it's a vokop.

It's frustrating. The CC however is heading in an exciting last quarter.
I didn't even watch the Cheetahs loss.

I am totally against foul or dangerous play.
But there is no way that neither the Sharks nor the Bulls player should have even been penalized. How there was even a consideration of a red card is totally laughable.

Is it just a shit ref and a shit TMO?
Is World Rugby directing that refs must blow EVERY AND ANY contact to the head?
Or is it both?

Like Duane said, should we just rather play touchies?

Missed the game but saw the highlights. Perhaps a bit lucky that Morne missed that sitter at the end, but this is a massive result espeically when we remember the poesklap the Bulls gave us in Pretoria. Sounds like we're finally getting back to our SR form.

It is a world rugby directive to get the tackles lower and treat any contact with the head as effectively guilty until shown as innocent or mitigations work down away from a red. You see similar calls in NH games, and the tri-nations games.

Both calls were rough even as pens, but if it is blown consistently I try moderate my quibbles. Not sure where "quota refs" above comes into this.

As for the game there was some great play from both sides at points, a lot of mindless kicking but some good touch finders by Bosch. Even Libbok had an okay game - but still can't wait for Fassi to get fit,

Morne and Bosch both missed a sitter from right in front, so whilst Sharks were a bit lucky in the end I think on the balance deserved it - particularly as Marco van Staden 100% played the ball off his feet for his try!

Enjoyed having brandy for the first time as well, nearly 10 years out of school. Might actually move away from vodka

I don't like to say it......But I told you guys so.........

I was right about Bosch and Willemse.....Like I usually am.

Can I get a round of applause now.

Seriously...I said so early in Bosch's career.....the kid has enourmous BMT......When the pressure is on he just does the business...and if he fails he shrugs it off and carries on without any emotional hangover and loss of confidence.

By comparisson Willemse is a flake....every single year for the last 3 seasons he has been substituted at flyhalf mid season. One missed kick and he falls apart. And his kicking, decision making and distribution is very poor.

He's come along well. Would still like to see him attack the line more, but it's great to have a reliable 10.

I still wouldn't put him in contention for the Bok jersey though.

I'm on the fence about this. One the one hand, I thought they were both quite soft yellow cards. On the other, you've seen the news in the UK about players being diagnosed with dementia, so we're going to see more decisions like this.

Just watched the Sharks Bulls game.

Better than I thought. Sharks forwards really stood up to the Bulls forwards like nobody else has this season.
Best game yet from Ox, he keeps getting better and better. Definitely going to push Ginga for that Bok 1 jersey.
Am is critical to our backline. We're a much better team with him there.
I think Nohamba needs to work on his game management, too much of a loose canon.
Good bench who came on and made an impact.

A win against the Lions will put us in a great spot.

I understand that SARU have to bring the quota refs through but vokket just train them scrums. Understand rucks are a grey area but then just ref it consequent.
