I'm not sure even Oom knows what he's on about. Oom, you do know its still Thursday! Only acceptable to start morning drinking on a Saturday or Sunday ou pal!
I am just answering on his test batting ranking post. Root was 4th now he is 2nd in the rankings.

Aah OK. I read it like you were suggesting he open the batting.

That’s what it read like.

Doesn’t really have any effect on how good or bad the England openers are, so not really sure what his point is.

And Rassie finishes with a cheeky reverse shot. The lovely sound of the wind being taken out 100 000 Indian fans' sales.

Test 2 tonight.

Looks like Cane W will be the spinner, Henry for De Grandghomme and Wagner for Patel - based on what has been happening at net sessions.

This is not going so well for NZ. Even though Kane has been woefully out of form - I was looking forward to seeing him get his mojo back.

Will Wagner be back in the side? I hope so.

That's a shame - always sad to miss out on seeing a great player.

Decent crowd at Lord's last night but not close to full. Hard to pinpoint the exact cause, be it The Hundred, cost of living, wfh, time of year etc. Probably a combination of all of the above, but no hiding T20 crowds are down this year.

Lord's felt out to rip you off - terrible service and stewarding, no booze allowed in anymore, hard to get any food for under £15 and they've put up the price of a pint by 20% from last year. Won't help get people through the door.

Hmmmm. NZ at lunch 108/2 - 4 an over nice - Young got a good delivery from Stokes to get out - and then next ball from Anderson Latham spunks a rank long hop to midwicket to be caught well by golden boy Potts.

Disappointing that Latham lost his head.......but at least it is better than 102-9.

None of the batsmen have looked to be struggling too much (mockers gods, cover your ears), such a huge change from the Lords test.

And trying it against the saintly Kiwi's as well. Broken England.

As soon as the ball starts moving around the Kiwi's are all at sea.

From a position of power to hanging on in the space of 15 overs.

Awesome fight shown. Had the chance to get out of hand with 2 in 2 and then Conway and Nicholls falling - but Blundell and Mitchell to the rescue again.

Anything over 400 would be magical.

320 runs on a pleasant summers day, wish I’d been there.

That and the six into the pint glass😂😂

Twice they lost two wickets in quick succession and both times the new batsmen steadied the ship very well, Mitchell and Blundell in particular.

Almost time to start on Day 2. Weather fine, two batsmen well-established, England looking for early wickets

Looks like a bit of a batters dream doesn't it?

Not doing much off the pitch and fast outfield.

I don’t agree allowing pace bowlers having to bat just before they are expected to pick up wickets, in a position like this, especially on a track like this one.

This is true. Selfish stuff by Mitchell. Obviously not a team player.

I had only just clocked that whilst Boult bowls left handed he actually bats right handed.

Paddles was the other way round - bowled right, batted left.
