That poll had Macron ahead with 26%. I would argue that Macron is center right, as a lot of his policies for the last 5 years would have had Chirac and Sarkozy proud.

The worrying part is that the far right cumulative 16% with Lepen and 13% with Zemmour. A third of the French are willing to vote for a far right party!

One thing is sure. The Socialist Party in France, which had become a Social-Democrat party through the years, doesn't have a voice any longer. The moderate left is now represented by the Green Party.
Adding numbers together, extremist parties reach above 40%. It shows that people are divorced from traditional politics and want a brutal change. Yet it looks like Macron or Pecresse are likely the next President.

Suspect that much of the SF vote is a protest vote at the performance of the government and frustration with the state of the housing market. It's been broken for 2 decades now and is getting worse.

I seem to remember a conversation with Seneca and another admirer of Trump (prior to NPR), wherein it was generally agreed that a sitting President defines the law, so it's impossible for him to do anything illegal.

You can get away with endless shit if you're wealthy in the US; but the IRS don't give a shit how much money you have; they nail anyone to the wall if they lie to them; & this is Mazars saying that Shitgibbon & his children did exactly that. They've even refused to do their taxes this year FFS
I imagine this will stop him getting, or refinancing any loans; & have all the banks holding his debt, scrambling around assessing their exposure, if someone else breaks ranks, & calls in his debts. They won't want to be last in line, to discover that his inflated valuations mean they can only collect cents in the dollar, if he goes bankrupt.

There are three Republican candidates, all of whom oppose the ruling in Griswold vs Conneticut. That established the right of married couples to use contraception without being prosecuted for it.
