Stormers making very heavy weather of Scarlets
Poor crowd for Scarlets v Stormers. Remember that Scarlets are Llanelli in all but name and when the regions were 1st proposed they bullied the powers that be into having their team. There’s no finer factionalism than Welsh rugby factionalism.
“It was a pet, not an animal. It had a name, you don't eat things with names, this is horrific!”
Stormers lineout woes continue. Can't wait for Dweba to join us. Hopefully he can sort it because we've tried every other hooker.
Maybe the issue is with Orie and Moerat. I don't fucking know, but it is killing our momentum.
Mauls are also a mess.
At least Roos is playing well again after his terrible outing against Leinster.
Hopefully they can find their mojo and put in a cracker of a second half.

Most worrying is the Stormers defense. We don't have a great bench

The Lions problem is money. They need to be re-capitalized. Failing that they should be merged with the Bulls. It would be a shame to lose the history though. Maybe retain the CC team and junior structures.Blake wrote: ↑Sat May 21, 2022 4:09 pmProbably the smart thing to do, but if done it could kill the Cheetahs as a franchise / union.bok_viking wrote: ↑Sat May 21, 2022 4:00 pm I hope they do get some drafting system in place for SA. The Lions might be screwed next year, they are already losing about 5 players at the end of the season with talks of a few more. They might need to bring in players from the other provinces to bolster their ranks because im not sure how many players they will be able to buy.
It really is a pity that we just can't seem to fit a 5th team into any of the tournaments we compete in. We always end up with some compromise...
Merging the Cheetahs and Lions was a disaster.
Then the Cheetahs were relegated.
Then the Lions were relegated.
Then we had both back at the same time, but had to include the EP Kings because politics.
Then the Cheetahs got cut from Super Rugby again.
Then the Cheetahs played in Pro 14.
Then they got cut when the other SA sides started playing URC.
We can field 5 teams. I really hope that if the Welsh end up dropping a team that the URC and the other European rugby fans would allow the Cheetahs back.
Then the remaining 9 feeder unions can function as some drafting pool of players for the 5 teams. That would be the best outcome for SA Rugby IMO.
They also need to find a better home-base and stadium to play in.FalseBayFC wrote: ↑Sat May 21, 2022 5:03 pm The Lions problem is money. They need to be re-capitalized. Evan Roos vs Kolisi?
Looking at the table does that mean Leinster have a home final (if they win through to it) no matter what the result against Munster?

Stormers made tough work of that. Still don’t look like a championship winning team, but I’ll take an ugly win over a pretty loss.
Lots to still work on. AH Venter was a massive improvement over Kotze. But the lineouts are still a mess.
Ungerer wasn’t great at 9 either. Between him and Masimla and an out of form Jantjies we still have issues at the base.
Happy with winning the SA conference shield though. If you asked me 8 months ago I would not have thought it possible. The Bulls and Sharks just looked so formidable on paper.
We are going to miss Galant badly next year. I don’t think there is anybody in the Stormers pipeline that can replace what he brings to the table. Hope Nienaber gives him some opportunities as we phase out Willie.

Did you check the log? Bragging rights.Sards wrote: ↑Thu May 12, 2022 12:36 pm Sharks are going to have to go full beast mode to get a strong bonus point victory against Ulster. Sharks are very inconsistent at home so home advantage means nothing

Lets hope that Venter sorts out the hooker issue.
Moerat and Orrie don't work as a combination
9 is a big problem.
Willemse tries to do so much that he just does headless chicken stuff.

Missed the Stormers match. Load shedding hit us between 6 and 8. Stormers have been good value this season. Dobson has certainly made the most of what he has to work with. Like the other SA teams though I think we can only get better. Maybe not the Lions though.

Just watched the highlights. Dayimani has such explosive acceleration in that break. He did something like that last week as well. Beautiful floated pass from Gelant in the last try. I also enjoyed the chip over the backline try by the Scarlets.
Leolin Zas is turning into a test quality winger.

Nice, the Bulls got a home QF So get one more game to go and watch live. Will get my tickets as soon as they are available. Hopefully the Bulls supporters will come in numbers for this game against the Sharks.
