So much to talk about! There are so many headlines you could make out of that team.
Fair fucks to RN for doing something I don't think any international coach has done before. I'm not sure he would have done this if we'd lost the first test, and I'm not sure if this team will gel quickly enough to beat a fired-up Wales, but it's going to be interesting!
What has he done that hasn't been done before?
Changes the whole team bar Etzebeth before an important test. Bok coaches tend to be a lot more conservative in how they bring new players through.

Before the 2019 WC they did the same thing, split the squad playing against the Wallabies in SA and a week later the All Blacks in New Zealand.

Started virtually a different team in the middle of a test series.

Ooohhhh. Just SA coaches. OK! Yeah, that's fair.
Ja I was a bit hesitant to say any one as I don't really follow any international comps we aren't involved in. Perhaps soon I'll be able to comment on the conduct of 6 nation coaches as well.

Refreshing to see Nienaber change the team and try something new.
What a fantastic loose trio.
I like the backline except 9.
Before the 2019 WC they did the same thing, split the squad playing against the Wallabies in SA and a week later the All Blacks in New Zealand.
That was under different circumstances.
It wasn't so many changes but it worked out well beating the Wallabies, drew with the All Blacks and winning TRC.
The Wallabies was withonnekak back then oom.

Just came in to see the discussion on the bok lineup, and happened to read this on the same page, I'd say it didn't age that well :D

We were very fortunate to win that match.
The yellow cards certainly helped our cause.
And big up to Willemse for nailing that kick. Generally we would expect him to miss at least 50 percent.
I just feel Rassie/Nienaber are stuck in a selection rut.
That's why Libbok, Fassi and Esterhuizen will not feature in the backline and Roos and Louw won't get starts. With an undercooked PSDT returning those 2 will move further down the pecking order. There is no other game plan other than the Jake2007 version. That's it.
Sadly we are going to go into the RWC with this game plan.
I know Roos can make the kind of impact that could force an inclusion to the starting side , but he would have to leapfrog Wiese who played like his position depended on it.
We will not beat Australia or New Zealand like this.
Playing all our games recently against NH sides prepared the NH more for us than helped our cause to be the best team in the world. Wales who have been dismal in the URC and NH tournaments gave us a huge fright. A last gasp win against 12 men.
There is nothing positive to take out of that besides retaining our number 1 position.
If anything Wales will fancy their chances next game.
Regarding Kolisi. He waa really poor for the Sharks ( to think players bumped down to the CC had to sacrifice their careers to include him ). And just as poor this past weekend. But you can imagine the political mess if he got dropped. He really doesn't contribute anything.
We were not rusty. There was lots of preparation time. Remember these players are proffessionals. It's just a really crappy game plan. Has been for years . We get away with it and that's why it's still in place.
I really cannot get excited about the Boks till we get to the Rugby Championship. That is going to be the eye opener. The real test.
Oh my word. It's like a wet dream.
Is this confirmed

If the Welsh think this pack is going to be easier they are in for a rude awakening. That is brutal. Welsh scrum is going to be under incredible pressure.

With Amm being in poor form that backline is going to be far superior in every aspect to last week.
This game reminds me of the test vs Argentina when Rassie was with the other team and Nienaber selected his own team for Argentina

Amm is a vastly superior player when compared to the limited Kriel.

Just seen the highlights. Absolute lol that Biggar thought he should get away with the final pen.

When on form. He has been out of form since returning from Japan. Hardly featured in the Sharks URC matches. Didn't make much of an impression Saturday.
I think Kriel will have more gas, just not the defence

He did not featured in URC matches because we was out in Japan on a short contract earning extra spending money, nothing to do with form.

Brenden Nel's Youtube channel is good, he puts up all the press conferences in full (Boks and the visiting team). Summary of Nienaber at the team announcement:
These selections were made before the series and the players knew it would happen. The point is to see how players perform under pressure, the point is still to win if it wasn't they wouldn't have planned it for the 2nd test which is always a crucial test.
There's a plan for the entire season. EOYT will have 3 non-test matches against clubs for an SA A team (only Bristol announced so far?) and 4 tests, sounds like either two touring squads or one very large squad on the EOYT. The Bok coaching team follows 60-70 players in detail, video analysis of everything they do every match they play, and another 100 or so are watched but not as closely. Some not in the 42 man squad for this test series could still be selected later, Cobus Reinach was mentioned who's injured.

He played the last few matches.
I am a huge fan. But he has not got good form currently. It will return. I am not suggesting Kriel replace him. I just want him back to his best

Am played in the last two matches of the season for the $harks. Yes, they were both losses but it's hard to say he's out of form. He was playing very well in Japan, and he's arguably the best 13 in the world at the moment.

It sounds like the team for Saturday was planned well in advance. I hear that they have been practicing together since everyone got together and of course played as the opposition for last weekend's team the same as last weekend's team will act as the opposition this week in practice. So it seems that they have put most of them together for a while to get used to each other, if that is the case hopefully they have some cohesion on Saturday.

I always thought Nienaber would see things differently to Rassie. If I recall, that match against Argentina he put together a young exciting team. Rassie took the OGs to Australia. Rassie had just returned from a ban or hearing or whatever. Almost like Rassie giving Nienaber a chance to coach his own team. I felt very positive after seeing Nienabers team in action. Then we went back to Rassie's team and the 2 losses to Australia. Using the same kick and pray game plan.
It's interesting that the two teams have been practicing against each other. 2 completely different styles and expectations. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall during those practices.
Really really looking forward to this weekend

It was against the Wallabies not Pumas. The A team left earlier for NZ, B team stay in SA.

LOL...you are such a fucking liar.
You were constantly accusing Nienaber of being Rassie's lackey with no will or agency of his own and only doing what Baas Rassie told him to do.

Let's see how we play, and the result, before we can decide if it was disrespectful or not.

Ja, they'll look pretty silly if they get blown off the park. There's some real hard contenders in that team and they're playing at the home of running rugby.

Pieter-Steph was the world player of the year [in 2019] so he brings massive experience and class; Evan has had an exceptional season for the Stormers so it is good for him to be rewarded. He has incredible potential,” the Bulls captain said.
“The challenge for us as a loose trio is to quickly build the synergy and cohesion from our various strengths. These are men you want next to you and we can’t wait for the weekend.”

I'm looking forward to Biggar taking the ball up in PSDT's defending channel. I don't really get the hate for Biggar but I really love seeing flyhalfs getting wrecked by PSDT.
