The problem is the left, sometimes our authorities and large companies tie themselves in knots repeatedly defending what is often sexist, homophobic, racist and anti-semetic behaviour from a minority of Muslims to not appear anti-islam. Which helps the likes of yaxley-lennon.
lmao yes, the left are to blame for all of thispetej wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2024 6:52 pm The problem is the left, sometimes our authorities and large companies tie themselves in knots repeatedly defending what is often sexist, homophobic, racist and anti-semetic behaviour from a minority of Muslims to not appear anti-islam. So do I, but I think it’s indisputable that some sections of our society are challenged on those views much more than others
I agree with your second point

That's quite a bizarre take and well worth noting, shaking and leaving on the footpath like a slightly crusty old dog turd.petej wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2024 6:52 pm The problem is the left, sometimes our authorities and large companies tie themselves in knots repeatedly defending what is often sexist, homophobic, racist and anti-semetic behaviour from a minority of Muslims to not appear anti-islam. The problem is the right, our media tie themselves in knots repeatedly defending what is often extremist, sexist, homophobic, racist and anti-semetic behaviour from a majority of Christians under the guise of 'balance'. Which helps the likes of Farage Riots and Trump.

Yaxley-Lennon jailed for 18 months for contempt of court!
The far-right activist Tommy Robinson has been jailed for 18 months for contempt of court for repeating false allegations against a Syrian refugee, in breach of an injunction.
He was told that “nobody is above the law” by a judge who said the breaches had been “flagrant” and done in a “sophisticated” way to ensure the false claims would reach tens of millions of people online.
Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, had shown no remorse and there was no realistic prospect of rehabilitation, said Mr Justice Johnson, who told Woolwich crown court: “All of his actions so far suggest that he regards himself as above the law.”

Good that he's got some consequence but it'll change very little and it'll no doubt help drum up more attention, exposure and income for the little scrote.SaintK wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2024 1:13 pm Yaxley-Lennon jailed for 18 months for contempt of court! The far-right activist Tommy Robinson has been jailed for 18 months for contempt of court for repeating false allegations against a Syrian refugee, in breach of an injunction.

Assume he can appeal this? Not sure how contempt of court works in that regard.

He admitted to every count in a Crown Court, if there are any grounds for appeal they must be very limited. Appeal to ECHR maybeinactionman wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2024 1:18 pmGood that he's got some consequence but it'll change very little and it'll no doubt help drum up more attention, exposure and income for the little scrote.SaintK wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2024 1:13 pm Yaxley-Lennon jailed for 18 months for contempt of court! The far-right activist Tommy Robinson has been jailed for 18 months for contempt of court for repeating false allegations against a Syrian refugee, in breach of an injunction.

I'm sure it will have been salted away in a good, patriotic offshore account by now.

Australian investigative journalism program 4 Corners has released an episode dedicated to social media companies' effect. It's almost 50 minutes that dives into youth suicide in the second half but the opening looks at the recent riots in the UK and covers the spread of hate speech through various media...
it's sobering viewing and something we, as regular internet users / citizens should consider. Most of us are older or outside the demographic the likes of TikTok or Meta focus on, but this is algorithm driven reach and none of us are immune. Those of us with kids definitely need to get up to speed over this...
as a long term resident of Australia, I find myself over exposed to, and tired of the accent and the formulaic presenting style of the presenting reporter here. It's worth going past that.

One of the ironic elements in this situation is that these two conspiracy nuts live in the second biggest country in the world. Don't trust the 'deep state' or whatever? There's a TON of land to go off-grid and ride out the end of days as they see it with virtually no one ever bothering you. I guess the difference is that they believe themselves to be the 'main character' in saving the world or something like that?
