The SRU Twitter feed is terrible for not including crucial bits of info like this. I assume it was a red? There was a comment made about the man advantage later on. Not that Scotland age-group sides generally need a reason to get beaten.

Muncaster is the real deal.
It’s very early of course, but he has a chance to be the savage ball carrying 8 we’ve wanted all these years.

As was predicted. Ah well, you win some and you lose some. What irritates me, though, is that we’ll continue to get criticised for picking players born outwith Scotland, which is a bit unfair if the ones that weren’t decide to represent someone else.

That's great for him.

I'm not too fussed seeing he and Rodd representing other counties. They were only born here. Grew up and developed elsewhere.

I don’t think that really matters, what matters is whether it is something they want. If Rodd grew up in England but wanted to play for Scotland, get him in. If he always wanted to play for England, then hope he gets selected for them.

It seems both players wanted to play for the nations they’ve been picked for, so congratulations to them both. I would have loved it they’d played for us, but I’m glad they been able to realise their ambition of playing for their home countries.

Glasgow get Nigel Carolan in from Connacht as their new attack coach. Don't know much about the guy but Connacht have looked a well-drilled and positive team in attack for the last few seasons so seems like a good addition.

Nice  Has there been any chat about the cross border contest v's the Welsh clubs again? Obviously it's on the back burner with covid, but I hope it's something they are considering for when things get back to normal. I'd been looking forward to getting to a few of the games down here.

That is such a shame, if not exactly unexpected.

He was a real prospect in that lock/blindside roll and was terrific for Scotland.

Clever by the Scots lads, they’ve seen Gatlands trap of playing them all in the exhibition match then claiming they had a game to prove themselves and not playing them again.

Clever

Just a reminder that Scotland U20 are playing England U20 today at 2pm. It should be available live on iplayer, or youtube if that fails like last week.

Scotland are playing Redpath / Townsend as the 9/10 axis :spin

Was reading that Dr Robson has been giving the players CPR lessons after the Erickson accident. Seems a sensible step.

It's a skill the entire population should be able to use. It's shocking the amount of cardiac arrests (or suspected arrests) we go to where people refuse to attempt it.

Scottish Rugby can confirm a Scotland men’s player has tested positive for COVID-19 while preparing to face England A this weekend.
A further eight potential contacts are also isolating as per Scottish Government guidelines. The game goes ahead as planned.

As a result, the following players have been called in to camp: George Taylor (Edinburgh Rugby), Stafford McDowall (Glasgow Warriors), D’Arcy Rae (Glasgow Warriors), Ben Vellacott (Wasps), Callum Hunter-Hill (Saracens).

So centres, THP, scrum half and Skinner being replaced by CHH?

That's the absolute lowest-key possible way for Ben Vellacott to become a Scotland player given the events of a few years back when it was deduced from a late insertion of a non-alphabetical player in a squad announcement that he had said no to the SRU...

He is a very lucky boy. Hopefully only called up for the A game because he has done nothing to merit the full capped games.

Scotland seem to have set up with an extremely narrow defence. Drifting across at least half the field, every time England spread wide we are giving up 30m+. Presumably they are concerned about the power of English carries through the middle, but they are leaving the backs too much to do, particularly with 1 on 1 tackles on the fringes. This could get painful.

Scotland 19 points behind with 18 minutes remaining, but England have just had a red card when already down to a yellow. Scotland have spent long spells on the England line in both halves without scoring - they have a huge chance to score a couple here.

Scotland camped on the English line for about 20 minutes. Finally score. Restart, knock-on - cross field kick and England score. Never change Scotland, never change :bimbo:
