If the Boks wear black armbands this weekend it is likely for Jannie du Plessis.

I hope the media don’t turn that into a Rassie thing.

Fuck off. This whole sad fiasco has been wholly created by that utter cunt you idiots appear to worship. He's even too dumb to recognise a lenient penalty when he gets one.

I'd kick SARU out of rugby until Erasmus makes a 62-minute video of him apologising and writing out "Rassie is a stupid arse" 100 times on a blackboard.

Siya also in hot water because he said he “felt disrespected by the officials” :wtf:

Apparently that statement accused them of racism, which they do not appreciate. Bizarre.

There is clear evidence of Siya being told to go away by the AR when we was calmly approaching the officials to request a referral.

Uh he has absolutely no right to ask for a referral and the officials are entitled to tell anyone to go away, even a captain

Agree 100%

But that doesn’t invalidate his statement that him being told to go away while AWJ was given access to the referee could be interpreted as disrespect. (The referees we reviewing a try and he wanted to request they check that Mapimpi was being held back in a kick chase…which was the case…but which was also irrelevant as an infringement accursed before that.)

Nor does it support their claim that that statement in any way shape or form accused them of racism.

Ironically, the indignation that they think that is what Siya was accusing the officials of, simply because it is a black man making the accusation, kind of shows the bias among the judiciary IMO (not the officials of the match)

He's gotten off lightly.

Defending him at this point, let alone mocking Berry for being distressed by a significant figure in the sport going out of his way to do a career and character assassination in the most public way possible, is the act of a cunt. Berry's quite right to point out that many who saw and heard Rassie's groundless allegations won't have followed the dragged out story to the point where he (Berry) has been exonerated. Lasting damage has been done.

There is no winner here. There is too much damage done. This did not need to get to this point.

I am more concerned about how much damage has been done to our reputation and relationships with the rest of the rugby world.

Rassie needed to back off but released an appeal immediately.

I think there is still a rocky road ahead.

The focus is off the referee lads. Rassie is now taking on WR. That's a dangerous path to follow.

It will be interesting to see how much support Rassie has from the other rugby nations.

None of the players should be involved with this. Nienaber should stay the vok out of it too. Let it be about Rassie but not the Springbok team.

I think South Africa will be secretly pleased with the outcome. I predict that although there is a lot of noise about appealing, the appeal papers will never actually be filed.

Probably the best thing for Nienaber to be given some space to find his feet. The team could probably coach themselves at this point. The forwards more so than the backs. Rassieball has been a mixed blessing.

Some posters seem puzzled about why Rassie is worshipped in South Africa. He is particularly popular with black African rugby supporters. He comes from the Eastern Cape like Siya. This is the home of black rugby and cricket in SA. The way he has embraced transformation and backed his captain and black African players through thick and thin has endeared himself to that fan base in a huge way. The rest of SA love him for delivering the RWC and taking us to no.1.

All this talk of him single-handedly destroying rugby is hysterical hyperbole and straight up butthurt jealousy. He deserves his punishment and will take it like a pro. But he's an innovator who pushes the envelope and will be back. He's going to walk into a pro coaching job at a NH club after this if he wants.

Agreed. Shouldn’t matter at all.

WR seemed so worried that Siya’s statement somehow implied racism on behalf of the officials that they felt compelled to make a statement about it in the Rassie report.

I’m sure there are lots of players that feel a referee snubbed them at some point. Siya just answered a journalist in a presser about how he felt.

Its a good thing Rassie was successful. Imagine how kak it would have been for Saffers if he had gone out like Straueli. A rubbish coach with questionable methods going out on a 53-3 drubbing at Twickers. His captain knocking out one of his own players. He's going out with his team at the top of the world rankings and holders of the Webb Ellis.
