Not sure how long Faf and Herschel are still going to be out, but if neither are going to be fit for the next game it means we only have Reinach and a new 9 that needs to get in the team, get his box-kicking game up to standard and learn the defensive pattern.

Who are the remaining options to bring in? Nohamba? He was at least involved earlier.
Nohamba probably next. Ruan Pienaar my pick. He kicks better then all of them.
As long as it isn't Reinach. Fucking appalling today.
Vok he is useless. Three chsrge down kicks in our own 22. 2 tries not passing. Slow service.

Pienaar playing good rugby in the CC. Played 10 today and his service is good. Also experienced.

If I had to pick a young one maybe Zak Burger from the Bulls.

what is actually wrong with them both? thought faf only a muscle strain and what exactly is wrong with herschel? never heard anything about his injury.
H Jantjies had ‘n hip injury. It didn’t sound to serious when it was first announced, but the silence is making me suspicious that it might be more serious.

Hendrikse is rubbish. Doesn't have the temperament. He isn't as rubbish as Reinach.
Hendrikse is fine. Sad watching him get injured. It look bad. Good luck to him.

Argies are a weird bunch. Most of the world loves them and their attitude. Always up for a challenge. Fighting spirit and all that.

But they can sure be a negative dirty team. Lavanini is ‘n poes. He could have seriously injured Pollard with that late hit. I also think I spotted an Argie stomp on Kolisi’s arm in a ruck. Will be interesting to see if he is cited. Add to that all the penalties and cynical play. It really wasn’t a great advert for rugby in general but Argie rugby in particular.

If you watched the build up, you would have seen faf saying he will be back within one or two weeks.

What an average game.
We can't play the "running" game. We lacked aggression up front. Kolisi was not nearly what he has been. Wiese was pedestrian.
The backline looked clueless

I know that this is the kind of game that Sards has been calling for, but fuck me we should have put 30 points on them.

Wiese is not a Bok 8. At all. When he left the field Kwagga high 5'd him and he had to reach to get to Kwagga's hand. FFS.

Wiese is 1,90m, Kwagga 1,80m??
Nevertheless, I would love to see Dan du Preez get a start at 8. He made a couple of powerful carries today when he came on.

I very much doubt Wiese is 1.9, I saw it today when he was next to Kwagga.

In the picture he looks smaller than 2m PSdT, one head taller than 1,70m Faf and taller than 1,89m Pollard. So 1,90m it is

Malherbe is 1.9 and he is shorter then him. Regardless, he just doesn't look like a Bok 8.

I've come to accept that wins against Argentina are generally unsatisfying. Especially when they are as cynical as they were yesterday. Hard to believe those put away the All Blacks last year.

I think the criticism of Reinarch is a bit harsh. Yes he wasn't great yesterday, but didn't get much protection from his team when box kicking. He was outstanding last week, so give him a break.

Marx was outstanding, best hooker performance from us since restarting this year. Debwa and Bongi are going to have to step up their game.

Bench was definitely an issue. Nothing offered again from Willemse, but not exactly given much of a change either. Not sure what our long term plans with him are. More average rugby from NJvR, still struggling to see what he is there for.

Great game from Thomas du Toit, especailly after such little game time. I'm sure Chilli is singing his praises this morning

Indeed.

No chance Reinach gets a pass from me! His box-kicking is TheGamePlan, but it’s the delay when he arrives at every ruck that gives me the shits. Hurry up son!

When he eventually does get there he first stops and has a long conversation with his backline and or anyone else in earshot before he even looks at where the ball is. I wanted to fucking scream. Telegraphs everything he is doing.

Ditto. He nearly cost me another TV. Thought Jansenv R had a very good debut.

Love to see a strike runner coming in from a deeper position. Exploiting the angles. Fassi is brilliant at this. He has great vision and anticipation for such a young player. Kolbe should be doing this more often or even Am. We had such a stranglehold on possession we should have played more phases. The stab kick or cross kick comes too early. It's a patience thing.

Stronger teams will be watching closely and coming up with ideas to neutralise our game plan. The Argies played a spoiling game and maybe the ref should have stepped in earlier.

I have the feeling we could use a playmaker type loosie with lots of pace. I thought Kwagga would have injected this but he seems to be playing to plan.

We have such an experienced team now that should be able to convert possession and territory into tries a lot better. This is what Pollard needs to learn to become a truly exceptional player. He has all the tools and talent but lacks the vision to be a real GOAT level flyhalf.

Am had an outstanding match.....he is a GOAT......

Would love to see more of Fassi......this continued obsession with Willemse is getting boring now....I want to see Fassi chasing Mapimpi for tries scored.

We lacked aggression and were waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to passive. We missed Eben. We were much too friendly and polite. We need a bit of Parow or Brackenfell to bring some mongrel too the boys from the good schools.

Yeah, weird comment. I thought he had a rather decent showing. Did some old-school lock grunt work very well. The only criticism I have is that he and Bongi just didn't click at lineout time.
The lineout contingent of Bongi, NJvR, Mostert and Du Preez had zero chemistry or leadership. It was a compete clusterfuck. But in the loose, NJvR did a better job than Orie on the day.

Bongi's lineout work was a flashback to earlier on this year during the whatever competition they were playing in.

Trevor and then The Gina Ninja both had to go tell him where to throw. It is almost as if he didn't know the lineout calls.

It's been the practice for some time now for the lineout captain to tell the front prop to tell the hooker the lineout call.
It's been like that since that very noisy match where Bismark couldn't hear Victor's calls and conceded a number of free kicks for taking too long to throw in.

The problem was the lack of an experienced lineout captain. Mostert usually packs down with either Eben or De Jager, but neither were on the field.
But yeah, Bongi needs to own those bad throws. They were all too high.

For me, it was an average match, but some of our players were poor, Bongi, Orie and Reinach.

I thought Janse van Rensburg was decent.

Appreciate the effort, but isn't it better to just have a match thread per match? It's a bit of a pain looking for team sheets etc if it's all jumbled together.

Yeah, I know and to be quite honest with our numbers on this bored, some of the match threads have been quite sad. But I’m not precious only created this as a catch all thread as we had been doing. I added the upcoming fixtures in to thread title to attract some attention, help people recall when the match is on (incl neutrals).

Thought about team sheet location issues, but figured we can use scrolling and it’s no different to official country match threads where you do the same with squad announcements.
