Kerr-Barlow is out for the final. Huge blow for La Rochelle, he is the player that settled West.

Is there much French concern about the current format and having to contend with Irish teams? They have consistently been getting teams into the latter stages of the competition, and winning outright a reasonable amount of the time.
La Rochelle have got a must win T14 match on Saturday against Stade Francais.
Leinster play Munster in the URC.
Compare the teams that play on Saturday with those that played the semi-final.
Ah, here it is. And actually, the semi was mentioned, my bad, so we can do that comparison now.
All yours Toga.

Compare the La Rochelle/Leinster sides this weekend and last.
I think you were implying La Rochelle would be playing loads who played last weekend?

...........and LaR's team for this weekend only has 2 of last weeks starters in the 15.
The French don't put out weak teams, oh no !
Eh? Who said that? The reverse in fact. Maybe reading and/or comprehension is a problem for you but it's been repeatedly said that T14 sides do field weakened sides
- Europe
- away games
precisely because the T14 is so long and so attritional. So thanks for acknowledging the point.
Meantime,
Treviso 69 - Cardiff 21
And a 2nd string Leinster defeats Munster.
What was it we were arguing? Oh. Yes. That
- Leinster doesn't have to fatigue key players
- because the quality of opponents in URC is poor
Going back to your half baked "evidence", even if T14 sides did not field weakened sides, there is a major contextual issue in that game
- they have a Euro final next week....... which they are going to lose but were never going to risk key players for
- especially when they were at home to a Paris side who had nothing to play for and just wanted to head to the beach

England clubs can't have an 'Irish style'* academy as they are subject to a salary cap.
* There's nothing Irish about academies. Irish hubris really knows no bounds.
Academies are outside the salary cap and English clubs pay their academy players more. Indeed the upper limit for academy players was increased from £30k to £50k recently. We pay our academy players up to €12k. Your exemption for non home grown academy players is £100k which would cover our entire academy salary cost for home grown players.
Your post is even more nonsensical than usual.

The senior ceiling will be £5m (down from £6.4m), and it will continue to be linked to the central growth of Premiership Rugby.
Home-grown player credits will be retained up to £600,000.
International and EPS player credits will be retained but limited to a maximum of £400,000.
Season-long loans salary cap exemption will be removed. The academy ceiling will remain at £100,000 (this is for non-home grown academy players) but the upper salary limit for an academy player will increase from £30,000 to £50,000. Homegrown academy players do not get counted in the £100,000, boosting the clubs’ ability to support young English qualified talent.
For any existing contracts that continue into the 2021-22 salary year, and beyond, their cap cost will be counted at 75% of their overall actual value, to sensibly manage the transition to new cap levels..

Yep p.a. First years usually about 8k and up to 12k for the few third years. Fuck all of them. It's pocket money but they have some subsidised IRFU digs for them all to live in. It's not a salubrious life in the pecuniary sense
In South Africa its R240,000 pa. There is not many academies remaining.

So Ireland and South Africa is on line. We we have to many wanting youngsters to get into the academies. Many pay to get in the academies, the other go to Varsities. Francois Pienaar created our Varsity Cup which is very popular and most of our top players like Eben Etzebeth came through that competition. Nowadays Varsity Cup players get franchise contract while still playing in the competition.

The main reason I don't like the idea of players skipping the academy, is that part of the academy is the guys are in 3rd level Education, & they're learning for the time after Professional sport.
If they have a career ending injury when they're 25, they're not totally adrift, if they at least have a degree, or a trade, or something to fall back on.

Schalk Burger started at University after school. He played one season for Maties and never look back.
Not many finish their studies and then play professional.

Some of our kids get poached by French club academies. Just one year and they returned. The French club where Jake White coached have appointed a French teacher at Grey College. Look like a fail.
Re: Heineken Champions/Challenge Cup 2022 Semi-Finals Weekend
Excuse the source but couldn't be arsed looking for a more reputable link.
Anyway, in short, Ringrose went from a captain's run for a HEC quarter final at the Aviva inside the stadium into an exam hall to do a college exam. This was the year he was instrumental in Ireland's GS and Leinster's HEC win.

South Africa use to had an u19 and u21 CC. The provinces use to contract those u19s in the academies and then they played the CC in the same year. They change it now to only the i20 CC, so I think that fall away.
