But I’m exhausted and savagely over it all. I need to go home, switch off and rest. Then I’m going to pack up my life again and move to Adelaide for a couple of years to see this through. Having a decent pay packet is worth holding onto.

I did manage to find a room on the 10th of Feb, so booked it, then got hold of the travel agents and tried to get flights sorted...no flights from that part of the world getting back to NZ on the date my iso is booked. Have applied for emergency allocation but not heard back yet which is not too encouraging, this bloody virus
My dad has cancer. I did exactly that back to Port Elizabeth in 2018 when he was really ill. Seemed so natural to “just go”
He’s doing ok now, but I’m terrified I can’t go there tomorrow. Feel for you.

I read the other day that some people have booked multiple spots in managed iso showing up their chances. That irks me deeply... and as its all passport number based you’d hope MIQ would sort that out quickly, it’s unfair and unnecessarily distressing.

Dr Norman Swan on ABC News right now remains very upbeat. He says he would expect large increases in cases over the next few days, and that would be a good sign as it would mean the contact tracing system is working. He also said that due to the geographic nature of Sydney's Northern Beaches it could be a relatively easy area to lcokdown, if the NSW govt was to choose to go down that path. He warns that this outbreak is unlikely to be resolved before Christmas and that Sydneysiders should reconsider their Christmas plans if they involve mass gatherings.

Sydney's Northern Beaches cluster now stands at 28.
Can’t say I’m surprised, as I said coming from Victoria it was a bit of a shock to see people gathered around not wearing masks. I see Sydney Airport is packed to the rafters with maskless, superspreading Sydneysiders looking to get out before borders close.

I saw on our news that people flying to WA had the rules changed on them mid-flight and now they have to go into managed isolation. Bugger - that's got to suck big time

NSW Health says the Northern Beaches COVID-19 cluster has grown to 17 cases.
As contact tracers work to keep up with cases, NSW Health has urged all residents within the Northern Beaches local government area to stay at home.
Residents have been advised to remain at home "as much as possible", keep to their household group and avoid all unnecessary gatherings.
They are also urged to avoid unnecessary travel outside the Northern Beaches area.
In response to the growing cluster, Queensland and Western Australia have imposed new restrictions.
From midday tomorrow, anyone who has been in the Northern Beaches region since December 11 will not be able to visit Queensland residential aged care centres, hospitals or correctional facilities.
The Western Australian Government says anyone who has been in NSW since December 11 must get tested and self-isolate.

If everyone actually had isolated like you are obviously doing, maybe the problem could be calmed down a lot.
Here in the UK, it’s been touch and go, but it’s looking like a positive change upgrading to omicron. It’s infectiousness is not great in someways, but bloody useful in others. But in our situation where we were flooded with delta, it’s more or less wiped out the more harmful delta. Stretched out hospitals a bit, for a bit, but nothing like previous waves.
Not sure about Aus, probably will just be adding to the toll, rather than wiping out delta.

This whole IVF stuff is annoying me.
Of course it’s elective. It sucks these people can’t get it but there are more important surgeries we need to make sure happen.
I have someone close to me battling cancer. They need an operative in a month or so that will be life saving. If that is delayed then it could be fatal. That is classed as elective (tier one elective).
If it’s a choice between that surgery and IVF it’s a no brainer.
Covid sucks, we all have lost things. It’s not all about the IVF people.
