The bigger picture is what is best for the country and that has to be that the Tories lose the next election, as fun as it would be to see Johnson get the Spanish Archer now, I don't want the Tories to get a bounce from a new leader.

It's not inconceivable; there were already >20 votes in the drawer; & then JRM shit all over Scottish Party; which was a gift; & now the new intake from 2019, which must be at least a couple of dozen, meet, & discuss how they register their letters.

It won't be just the babies shitting themselves tonight in #11

any bounce will be very short lived; Brexit isn't done; inflation is only going one direction; & even if there's a complete recovery from Covid, it's still only half of the damage from Brexit.

The UK has now technically got full employment; but yet it has >100k vacancies in the NHS; it's short of 100k HGV drivers, needs 50k customs agents; God knows how many people in agrifoods/service sector; & the Party in charge for the last decade; has no ideas, & no talent, to deal with any of these issues.

Reality is a bitch !

Why wouldn't it be Raab?
Just not something he would say or get involved with, IMO.

Was it Raab who reportedly mouthed, "Fuck off you wanker" to a Today programme host recently when the questions weren't going his way?

I get mixed up with them all, they are all a soup of banality, dangerous right enough, but the self-serving is tedious.

I'm inclined to agree. I'm tired of how terrible this government is. Time to get a new lot in who will no doubt be terrible in their own way but at least it'll be something different.

You mean Nick Robinson was asking him some difficult questions which Raab didn't or couldn't answer. Only one wanker in that conversation and it wasn't Robinson

Bloke with 0.8% majority sees which way the wind is blowing

Albeit he does seem to have fallen out of love with his party
It was reported in The Times on 5 November 2021 that Wakeford approached Owen Paterson and called him "a cunt", after the Government, under the instruction of prime minister Boris Johnson, instructed its MPs to vote to change rules on the way MPs' conduct is policed.[16]

There's Two; that the EMA membership would have slowed the UKs vaccine rollout;

It wouldn't; because the UK was still a member, when it started it's vaccine rollout !

So it wasn't achieved OUTSIDE; & if it was successful; it obviously wasn't a problem !

Something about we wouldn't have been allowed to proceed with the vaccine rollout without EMA go ahead if we'd been part of the EU? Which has been proven untrue

Would still have been a lie. No one was forced to join the program; but the all saw the advantage of negotiating as 400+ million, rather than individually; but some Countries were still free to do their own deals initially; until they joined the main one, & saw massive reductions in the price the paid for vaccines. The UK was paying three times more per vaccine, than the EU

He's repeatedly said we wouldn't have been allowed to run our own vaccine programme and would have been forced to do our procurement through the EU. Which is patently untrue given not all EU members ordered their vaccines through the EU programme.

Yep heard the arguments before. Cost seems pretty irrelevant and the terms the UK was offered membership on were clearly unacceptable and would have been slower and less effective than our own rollout. He's entitled to see the vaccine programme as a success.

As I heard it the jibe he was making was that Labour wanted to join the EU vaccine programme rather than run our own, which is true. If I misheard and he was making a more technical point about the specifics of the EMA and procurement then fair enough I missed it.

Surely what would then happen is that a disgruntled MP would nominally stay in their party but simply start voting against them in the HoC. It'd be a hell of a thing if a political party could threaten an MP with a by-election if the party didn't like the way they were voting.
