Both appeals to the NY Appeals court thrown out; so the rest of the civil fraud trial will proceed on Monday, & the grim reaper can start sharpening his scythe for the Traitors businesses.
I'd actually forgotten that this was the case where the Traitor pled the 5h on 400 occasions during the depositions; so apparently he isn't so adamant as to the correctness of his valuations when he's under oath, as when he's on his shitty SM platform.
It also rather shows why the Judge, & the Appeal court judges are driving ahead & ignoring the noise.

6 hour impeachment hearing yesterday the eve before government shut down. Even had Fox News reporting that there was no evidence presented to support impeaching Biden.
The GOP has no fucking clue what it's doing at the moment, just madly flinging shit like a confused chimp and hoping that some of it sticks.
It did produce this gem, though.
Her, Fetterman, AOC and Porter; there are some Dems in the newer intakes who are done with trying to be polite with the Christo-fascists and much more effective at calling them out. It's influencing the administration with Pete Buttigieg and Biden's official accounts getting sassy from time to time. Someone in the communications team is embracing 'Dark Brandon'.
Waiting for some of this energy to cross the pond and hit Labour. A bit more cut and thrust about the abject failure of the Tories and their distraction tactics would be welcome.

The first domino has fallen in Georgia !
A bail bonds man called Scott Hall, who was one of the idiots who stole election data,, & copied Dominion voting s/w, pleaded guilty today to a number of misdemeanors. So now when the speedy trials against the kracken moron, & Chesebro, start in a few weeks, the moron is cooked !, because she was the one who got him involved.
This will in turn force the other small fish to either flip, or go spend a decade or so in State prison .... and so the dominos will keep falling, & eventually you'll get to a domino that will put one of the big fish into the position of deciding to cooperate, or only seeing their grandchildren on visiting day.

The sprog and I spent an hour or so wandering the streets south of Rodeo Drive a few months ago, just being nosy. There were lots of top end motors parked out front of many swank abodes, but we didn't see anyone trying to steal them at gunpoint. Could've been an off day.

Key piece of context:
Justice Engoron just noted in court that "nobody asked for" a jury trial, which is why he'll be presiding over Trump's $250M civil fraud case without one.

He's never actually had a real job that wasn't politics I believe?
I don't pretend to know much about how American politics work, or this particularly case really. But, isn't this over McCarthy allowing a spending deal through to avoid a government shutdown (again)?
If that's the case, wouldn't it be wiser for the Democrats to keep him there? Also, wasn't this a perfect opportunity for the Democrats to de-escalate the nonsense and try to get some bipartisan good will going forward, particularly with Trump on the horizon again?

I wondered exactly the same. It's actually incredible that during a trial he can go out at lunch, call the judge corrupt and threaten the investigating DA. I think he was an arsehole to them when they tried to find a bipartisan way forward when he was trying to be elected speaker in the first place earlier this year (that took 13 votes before his own party would back him). So they thought fuck'im.Slick wrote: Wed Oct 04, 2023 1:33 pm I don't pretend to know much about how American politics work, or this particularly case really. And are there two g’s in Bugger Off?
Yeah, understand the guy is a total dick. But saving a grifter like that his job, and the goodwill it might engender with the other 200 Republicans, seems like something to at least consider. Equally it could have been the time for McCarthy to cross the aisle and say what do I need to put on the table for 50 votes or even for 100 votes. But such as I understand it he was looking to play just on his side of the sandpit.Slick wrote: Wed Oct 04, 2023 1:33 pm I don't pretend to know much about how American politics work, or this particularly case really. There's no chance of that at all. Even if individual Republicans were willing to try and break bread with the Dems, the MAGAites among them and in their voter base wouldn't brook it.Slick wrote: Wed Oct 04, 2023 1:33 pm I don't pretend to know much about how American politics work, or this particularly case really. It's also not just about this incident, basically since the Tea Party started making ground the Republicans have been going out of their way not to work the with Democrats and trying to draw them into 'meet me in the middle' while taking giant backwards steps so that the meeting isn't possible.

Take away his mouthpiece, then his money, then his freedom.
So none of this, & few grand of a fine, or 5 minutes in the holding cells, waiting for the bus, & a quick purging of contempt, before freedom bollocks.
So Drump scuttles off to Mar a Lardo after 2.5 days after claiming he couldn't attend his disposition with Michael Cohen as he would be in court all week.. Let's see if he tries to squirm out of that again.. After all, he's the one who brought the case..

Drump drops his 500 million dollar lawsuit against Cohen to avoid sitting for a deposition..
Cohen replies..Given that President Trump is required to sit for deposition in a civil matter on Columbus Day, when he is scheduled to be in the Great State of New Hampshire, and while the President is fighting against the meritless claims that have been lodged against him in New York, Washington D.C., Florida, and Georgia, as well as continuing his winning campaign, where he is leading the Republicans by 60 points and Crooked Joe Biden by 11 points, to serve as our next President of the United States, President Trump has decided to temporarily pause his meritorious claims against Michael Cohen. Once President Trump has prevailed in dealing with the witch hunts against him, he will continue to pursue his claims against Michael Cohen, who rightfully deserves to, and will be held accountable for his unlawful words and actions just as the Southern District of New York held him accountable for numerous non - Trump related acts and crimes, making Cohen a very "proud" felon.
Great news out of the Southern District of Florida tonight: Rather than be deposed by Danya Perry on Monday, Donald J. Trump voluntarily dismissed his $500 million lawsuit against our client Michael Cohen. From: Michael Cohen: As I have said from the beginning: this case was nothing more than a retaliatory intimidation tactic, and his attempt to hide from routine discovery procedures confirms as much. Mr. Trump's cowardly dismissal spells the end of this latest attempt to deter me from providing truthful testimony against him. My legal team and I now look forward to turning our full attention to holding Mr. Trump accountable for his latest abuse of the legal system. More to come.
