Leaked that London and the South East is going into Tier 4 and Christmas is therefore cancelled. Wow!
And they leaked it to a journalists who lost her twitter password so not even a verifiable account as of now. What a flustercuck
I believe Boris said it would be 'inhumane to cancel Christmas'.... Surely we are not looking at a U-turn?
is that the one from Simon Sporborg?
Don't know who that is.

He did have to. To have London empty out would be the super spreader event to end all super spreader events. And it'll still happen people will drive home. Just another disaster from this govt.

I'm not against required measures to be announced today, but they shouldn't have announced 5 days of relative Christmas freedom 3 or 4 weeks ago, when you could see that numbers would rise again.
Throughout the year everyone has been saying that things would get bad in winter, but this government has not planned for it, and keeps changing measures and plans every few days, with impromptu press conferences.
No wonder people are getting confused, frustrated and disenfranchised - it's awful governing by incompetent people.

Maybe they were working under the vain illusion that if they treated people like adults they would behave like adults. This isn't government incompetence it is arseholes not social distancing wherever possible.

That's part of the problem; but a lot of it looks like the decision making is based on how they would like things to be; as opposed to how the data is telling them things are.

The tiers thing is pretty funny. Tiers 1-3 now are not the same as Tiers 1-3 we had before. And now they're inventing Tier 4. They've not really thought this through at any stage.

There is some truth in that, but other countries are having similar issues - it only takes some idiots to promote the spread of the virus and make things hard for the whole population. And you can't ignore that it is a very successful virus.
But government incompetence plays a big part too; this dicking about with tiers with last minute changes and communications pisses people off. And makes them feel like they need to take advantage of opportunities before tier changes, rather than taking the local spread seriously.
Another example is the Education minister picking a fight with a handul of local councils in London who are concerned about infection numbers and take lessons online the week before the Christmas holidays. But he can't give schools across the country sufficient time to plan for testing on schools.

At no point did the Christmas make any sense unless the plan was for a light Christmas to boost morale and then a Jan lockdown.
Having a mass movement of younger people in cities to older people in towns and countrysides did not make sense. If you were sensibly planning Xmas and wanted everyone to get out and about schools should've shut 2 weeks prior and you have a lockdownlite. Otherwise it's just foolish.

The pantomime season is back then.
How many months ago do we think they decided on there being a dangerous “new” variant was going to be the reason they “had” to cancel Xmas and therefore won’t be blamed.
This has been planned and story boarded for months.
They mustn’t be allowed to dodge the eventual public enquiry.

Stop being so naive, they planned the Nov lockdown as early as August (don’t ask how I know this, but I know it’s true).
This is about the eventual enquiry nothing more. It’s genuinely evil.

Notice they extended Fulough till the end April last week, but we’re unable to put today’s changes in front of Parliament while it still sat.
There’s been 1,000’s of strains known since the beginning of the pandemic, how this particular strain spreads more quickly is clearly the most hilarious lie.
Think now for all the coming tier 4’s who’ve ordered for the season (both business and personal) . And how they’ll cope.
