Crawley held things together when it could have fallen to bits, building a very decent score with Buttler (hope he gets a ton). This pitch is going to become trickier to bat on as it dries out.

Ben Harmison was 6'6"

Steve's brother. A handy county cricketer, was on the fringes of the England ODI side for a while I think.
edit: on reflection, it's unlikely he was - his record wasn't as good as I thought. Think I just remembered a couple of decent seasons from him.

Ah, I meant England test batsmen (as in, proper batsmen rather than all-rounders like Broad).

How tall was Hayden, or did it just look like he played bouncers off the front foot?

Not English, but Tom Moody was about 6' 6" - he certainly had a few inches on Hick when they were both at Worcester and Hick is well over 6'.

Listened to TMS for most of the day, now watching the highlights on the Beeb.
I must say Isa Guha is a very impressive pundit in every way.

Just watching the highlights as well.
Crawleys innings was just beautiful, looked great.
I like this Pakistan team, seem like a really decent bunch - possibly too nice
Finally, I take back my earlier comments about the female commentators- actually very good

There's a Kiwi who.plays in the top 3 who's 6'6"
Only caught a couple of hours of Crawley's innings, but i was struck by how simple he made it look. Unusual situation as his test average is now a long way above his first class average but we may have a real find

The Tailenders podcast is worth listening to, they did a live show where they introduced Isa Guha to the tune of My Scironna.
Magic to see a full day of cricket, and crowd or not Crawley played a great innings for a 22 year old.

He doesn't have enough completed innings for that to be anything particularly noteworthy at the moment, but I also think he looks like he has a future - compared to so many of the batsmen who have been picked in the last few years, he doesn't have seem to have a weakness so obvious you can predict with almost total certainty how he will get out.

Yeah, I'd agree with that. At the moment you would say it's all about application for him.
The most interesting thing about the whole average thing is that we're not a country renowned for picking a junior player who hasn't got a bunch if statistics to support him - and it's not like he's been through age grade international either. His first international exposure was with the Lions 13 months ago. Very unusual for us, and hopefully a sign of things to come

Not taller, but KP was about the same height.
Tony Greig was six foot six.

Yes, the list of players with multiple test 250+ scores is pretty small so chances are that is his best ever test innings.

We have an excellent keeper in Ben Foulkes. I think England were close to dropping Buttler to bring Foulkes in. Not going to happen now though.

Jimmy gets his five-fer in the end, but that's been a pretty shoddy fielding performance, except for Buttler who suddenly looks like a decent wicketkeeper to boot

Apparently in the time it's taken for the players to walk off and then walk back on, apparently the light has deteriorated enough to end play
There are times that Test cricket makes a farce of itself

Butlers catch was something special, Broad saved himself from Anderson's wrath with the run out especially all the 2 drops in the slips.

Glad that Buttler's got his mojo back. Gives England a good headache over selecting him or Foakes. I hope the latter will get his chance over the winter, as his superior keeping will be needed against the spinners. Please let Leach have a go too!
Not sure who to drop for Stokes, once he's back. Pope?

A bowler, I'd say. 5 quicks and a spinner is a bit much.
