There's certainly an argument that there will be a handful of truly exceptional experts you'd need to accumulate from around the globe for certain projects, but there's no justification for the H-1B system.
They have a glut of underemployed tech workers in the US and certainly don't produce a lack of STEM grads able to fulfil the roles the overwhelming majority of H-1Bs occupy. That visa is mostly about exploiting an essentially captive work force, making them work less and for longer hours than US citizens.
I also don't think space travel/exploration should be in private hands and object to the existence of SpaceX. If Elmo considers H-1B visas to be critical to its creation then burn it down...
Me too. Americans should fuck themselves in the face repeatedly
Fuck you too

This is the essential paradox of the modern right wing position. They are ultra "pro business" but their anti immigration outlook is anti business.
Exactly. It's why right wing populism is really a dead end.
It has to some extent stepped into the space vacated by left wing parties who abandoned traditional working class voters and unions in favour of neoliberalism. It's well known that Democrats have sidelined the unions since Clinton, see how Kamala Harris treated the teamsters as after thoughts this past campaign cycle. However, it is ultimately beholden to Big Business so it will advocate for open borders and such.
Look at the Tories, did absolutely nothing, less than nothing to shore up the borders despite having a huge mandate. For all the culture war stuff conservative parties take their orders from the people with the big cheque books. In fact that's why they lean so heavily into the culture war stuff because they won't do anything substantive to provide relief to the average Joe.

Can you blame her ?
The Teamster leadership, like the leaders of the Firemen, & Police are frankly; scumbags !
The Teamsters are also mobbed up; & as a former Prosecutor KH knows all of this !
The Teamster members voted to endorse her campaign, but the Leadership are a bunch of crooks, so they instead decided to ignore what their member wanted.
It was a completely different thing when you talk about the Car manufacturing Unions, & the like, they wholeheartedly support the Dems, & the Dems reciprocate.

Yanks earn a lot and pay low taxes. But their cost of living and rent is fucking high.
Not to mention massive debt from any College education; something that most of the H1B candidates won't have
And the cost of health insurance....and while their taxes might be low by European standards I'm sure all those local and state taxes add up, at least that's what a Yank I know complained about. He was a high earner living in San Francisco though

One thing I will say about Musk (and I don't know if it's a good or a bad thing) but he is at least visible and open about what he does and what he advocates for.
I'm not a fan but most billionaires like him operate in the shadows and get others to do their dirty work behind the scenes. Him and Vivek have showed their hand, they are billionaires looking out for their business interests, anyone who thinks otherwise after their meltdowns on Twitter the past week is not paying attention.
He's not a free speech absolutist nor is he concerned about "saving countries", he's in it for himself.

Seems obvious to us but try telling it to his fanbois.

He's repeatedly positioned himself as a free speech absolutist and has just written a column for a German newspaper saying that only AfD can save Germany, so I'm really not sure where you get that idea

Accounts that were opposing Musk's position on the visa issue lost their blue check mark and/or were flagged up.
He then said he changed the algorithm. As it is my twitter feed is inundated with accounts I don't follow and have no interest in following but I never had that problem before he purchased it. I actually had Musk blocked until about a week ago because I was sick of his dribble clogging up my feed. Everytime he has a thought I don't need to be subjected to it.

Blocking c#nts is an option in this place too and there’s a very good reason.

Edit: Calculon covered health insurance. A friend there works in IT, out of a job at the moment incidentally, and is looking for 100k+ so she can cover the drugs she needs to treat a medical condition (that I assume would be free or a small out of pocket charge a month for the rest of us).

Muting him works wonders.
He's always had incredibly thin skin, that is his own consistent trait.

He's one gigantic ball of insecurities; constantly seeking the approval of others, to make up for having a cunt of a Father. He needs to steal the achievements of others as his own, PayPal, Tesla; neither were his work in any meaningful way, but he demands people give him credit for them.
Even his rage against trans rights comes down to him being scared shitless that somehow his childs choice is something that can be held against him; when instead what really shows what a worthless shit he is as a parent is how many of his ex's & children want nothing to do with him.

If this was as seems possible a car bomb / IED then choice of a cybertruck could be very deliberate

Yeah, it sure as hell is suspicious, but then again, Sissy SpaceX made no comment a few weeks ago when a number of High School teens in the Bay were BBQ'd when they crashed their Tesla death trap, & the Battery burned them to a crisp

Well the Cybertruck was rented in Colorado, where the victim/perp also lived, and it was loaded with fireworks and fuel according to police reports.
The driver of a Tesla Cybertruck that exploded in Las Vegas late Wednesday has been identified as 37-year-old Matthew Livelsberger from Colorado Springs, local media reported.
Livelsberger had several Colorado Springs addresses associated with him, according to News5.
It said the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is at a townhouse complex, which is located on the east side of Colorado Springs in the Stetson Hills neighborhood.
One person has been confirmed dead after a Tesla Cybertruck exploded outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, police confirmed Wednesday.
The deceased individual was inside the vehicle at the time of the explosion, but the person's identity, including whether they were male or female, was not immediately clear, Clark County Sheriff Kevin McMahill said during a press conference.

Backing Tommy Robinson and making up stuff about Starmer and the Rochdale scandal, he’s utterly lost it
But enough people may believe it.
This has to be coming from Farage's Team
Yep and expect a lot, lot more of this. Unfortunately there are enough who will believe this. The summer riots which Farage promoted was just a wee test run to be honest, worse is to come.

It's coming from his sincere dislike of Keir Starmer. That's the only reason he's bothering with Nigel Farage. Doesn't even have business interests in the UK to exploit.
