Slick
Rugbynleague player doesn’t give a shit about people being clocked in the head.
That is fucking delusional. The post-match disciplinary system has worked and now I wish good luck to Owen moving forwards.
The thing I didn’t like about the incident at Twickenham was the way all the opposition players threw their hands in the air as soon to appeal. It happens all the time now, as soon as someone goes anywhere near the head. It’s like soccer, calling for red cards. Sorry, that’s not rugby for me. Let the referees do their job.
I could not agree more. I mean, FFS. I want whatever he is drinking.
Going into the World Cup, whoever manages to keep 15 players on the pitch will have a huge advantage. New Zealand are favourites for the tournament
Well that's a cunt of a post.
I fucking hate deliberate erasure of context. It's not just one poorly timed tackle is it, Kev? It's the latest in a long line of them stretching back years and you know that. Why is there no such similar furore about George Ford ever? Because he doesn't keep tackling players high (and inexplicably getting away with it...).
This actually makes me more angry than the tackle because it's this sort of thinking that's leading to these decisions. "I'll parrot the line that everyone says which makes it seem like I care about player safety BUT in reality, I really do enjoy seeing people knock the shit out of each other more than I give a hoot about how it affects their health.""Of course player safety is paramount but rugby is a collision sport"
When you log on to the WR website, say to renew a qualification, take a course or whatever, at every given opportunity Rugby is defined as an evasion sport, never, ever, ever is it called a collision sport. So what's the conclusion:Niegs wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 12:56 amThis actually makes me more angry than the tackle because it's this sort of thinking that's leading to these decisions. It's attitudes like this toward the cards, toward safer tackling trials, the bloodlust that makes me want to quit my involvement with the sport, but also spurs me to get MORE involved to support and enforce the changes needed.

So, no I won't take it down because it's publicly available information of the most visible. Not rooted for in any way.
And of course it's a real person. You think Farrell was represented by a ghost?
{EDIT} ASMO removed it anyway. Nonetheless it's as freely available as anything can be on the net.
It's a bit Occam's razor. Three globally known (Fagerson not so much but he is a Lion) players get very lenient bans that coincidentally mean they're available for the world cup.Slick wrote: ↑Tue Aug 15, 2023 9:22 pmI don’t but that it’s some conspiracy to get top players to the WC to be honest. I actually agree with that point - Biggar in particular is making a cottage industry of histrionically appealing to the ref and it needs to stop.Gumboot wrote: ↑Tue Aug 15, 2023 11:24 pmThat is fucking delusional. The post-match disciplinary system has worked and now I wish good luck to Owen moving forwards.

There’s clearly an effort to ensure that Tier 1 sides have their full squads available to them, this time it’s also combined with Super Rugby’s more liberal interpretation of shouldering someone’s head. There is simply no other explanation when they're taken together.
Biggar's a gobby whinger a la Nic White and Willie le Roux, but in this instance it was "all the opposition players" reacting in a perfectly understandable, spontaneous way to seeing their teammate flattened by a recidivist thug. How Edwards believes that's more excessive than Farrell's assault is beyond me. But hey, it's a contact sport...inactionman wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 8:13 amI actually agree with that point - Biggar in particular is making a cottage industry of histrionically appealing to the ref and it needs to stop.Gumboot wrote: ↑Tue Aug 15, 2023 11:24 pmThat is fucking delusional. The post-match disciplinary system has worked and now I wish good luck to Owen moving forwards.

I'm not sure I agree with much else in the article though.
But why is that focus on the perpetrators? Why should World Rugby not be making sure that the victims of these collisions are available for the World Cup. It seems so counterintuitive. Why allow someone with a dangerous tackle technique to continue to be dangerous on the pitch, potentially ruling other players out through injury?Paddington Bear wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 8:27 amThere’s clearly an effort to ensure that Tier 1 sides have their full squads available to them, this time it’s also combined with Super Rugby’s more liberal interpretation of shouldering someone’s head. We are not fighting a war, running away in defeat, we are giving up a sport because the human impact is far far far too great for its meagre entertainment value.Rhubarb & Custard wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 7:30 amah, the we're doomed so might as well give up now perspective.Line6 HXFX wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 7:16 amThere is no way to clean it up. sub-concussions are a thing sure, but the outcome is varied. so we need to determine what our red flags would be and for some people that'll mean stepping back from contact sports. but a lot of people like contact sports, to watch and to play, and we probably don't need to worry you'll pry it from our cold dead hands as you'll have already topped yourself in despair
I find I'm noticing - and getting irritated - by the histrionics more and more, but I also have no idea how Edwards sees that as a greater offence than Farrell sconing someone.Gumboot wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 8:40 amBiggar's a gobby whinger a la Nic White and Willie le Roux, but in this instance it was "all the opposition players" reacting in a perfectly understandable, spontaneous way to seeing their teammate flattened by a recidivist thug.
