1 in 2300 in England. So closer to 1 in 60 in the pub.
And if we all take that attitude anyway, there'll be more in a couple of weeks regardless.
No there won’t.
And if you remove Blackburn you’re back to about 1 in 3,000. Apart from that spot on.
And ffs , buy your drinks and sit in the pub garden, almost no risk at all.
If only someone had mentioned this to the virus, infact with it being that difficult to catch, I'm wondering why, but more importantly how, there's even a global pandemic at all.
Because social distancing hasn’t occurred when it should have.
You don't think perhaps Fauci is talking about the USA? Where they aren't having a second wave, since they are still in the first one.
Do you think we’re out of our first one in the UK? Or anywhere in Europe?
Well yes. That's why we likely had tens, if not hundreds of thousands of cases earlier, and now we have far fewer.
Let's be a bit clearer. My definition of a wave is a significant number of infections, followed by at least a 50% reduction in total case numbers. A second wave would then be another significant increase on top of the new low. What's yours?
I'm not going to do what you've done and make a random criteria up. In the UK we still have hundreds of positive tests each day. That doesn't say to me that the first phase is finished.

Realistically, 1st vs 2ND wave is a relative phenomenon rather than absolute

Which makes your comment even dumber, the genie is out the bottle, covid is rife and your answer is go to the pub? Everyone knows that beer gardens are immune to Covid 19

There are an awful lot of things that haven't occurred here when they should have done, from about early February

So... Let me get this right..You go to a pub, hand over your mobile phone details and enjoy a pint..5 days later, you're contacted and told to self isolate for 14 days as someone in the pub has tested positive. .
I can imagine the phone call. .
Boss, I went to the pub and now have to take another 14 days off..
Yeah right.....
This is a very good point. I was talking to a couple of mates yesterday in their garden (with manly beers and girlie Prosecco) and we all agreed this to be the key reason we had not yet darkened the doors of any pubs yet. On the other hand, I’m keen to support a few of my favourite pubs so I’m pretty conflicted in their cases.

There's also staff in the pub who shout at you to "STAY IN YOUR SEAT" or "HURRY TO THE TOILET WITHOUT SLOWING OR STOPPING". Like being back in school again.
Pubs used to be expensive, but fun. Now they're just expensive.
Honestly it hasn't been too bad. App service is quicker than going up to the bar and so long as no one is being a dick everyone is quite relaxed.

Have to say that has been my experience down south so far, pretty easy and no dicks at the bar.

No such ban in place in the pubs I've been in and no issues either.
In review, Swiss Policy Research is a website that purports to investigate geopolitical propaganda in Swiss and international media. They produce news articles as well as investigative analysis. Articles and headlines use minimally loaded wording such as this: Geopolitical propaganda on public radio: An analysis using the example of Swiss radio and television. Although, SPR thoroughly sources information they often use very poor sources that lack credibility. For example, when reporting on the Israel Lobby they provide a link to a video from the Questionable Unz Review, which is classified as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center and antisemitic by the Anti-Defamation League. Other sources used include RT and Sputnik, which they openly criticize as Russian Propaganda in other articles.
In another article they discredit Wikipedia as being a propaganda organization, Wikipedia: A Disinformation Operation? Yet, they are perfectly comfortable using them as a source of information in their analyses.
Swiss Policy Research is also providing information regarding the Coronavirus with mixed facts and misinformation. In this article, Facts about Covid-19, there is the use of several poor sources to support their claims such as the Daily Mail, Off-Guardian, Sputnik, and Youtube videos. Further, this list of so-called facts also contains unproven conspiracy theories such as this: “NSA wholesaler Edward Snowden warns that the “coronavirus crisis” will be used for the massive and continuous expansion of global surveillance. The well-known virologist Pablo Goldschmidt speaks of “global media terror” and “totalitarian measures.” Leading British virologist, Professor John Oxford, talks about a “media epidemic.” They further state “More than 500 scientists have warned of “unprecedented public oversight” using problematic “contact tracking” applications. In some countries, such “contact tracking” is already carried out directly by secret services. In several parts of the world, the population is already monitored by drones and is facing excessive police supervision.” While any of these may one day turn out to be true, there is zero evidence at this time to support these claims and hence they are unproven conspiracy theories.
Quality source that references quality youtube videos, sputnik, conspiracy theorists, and related fake news sites

For the bet wetters.
The numbers he gives on the page you link to often don't even agree with the sources it links to on the same site! And where they do, they report the number that is at one end of the range of figures.
Distortion distortion distortion, so it's obvious a fucking idiot like you would believe it.
And where he does link to academic research, and distorts the outcomes, one of them is a link to something I posted elsewhere that you tried to fucking discredit, you fucking imbecile.

I was queuing outside a shop a couple of months ago listening to music on the headphones..David Lee Roth, Skyscraper album...., Woman in her sixties got out of a car walked into the queue and started immediately pointing at the mask on my face without missing a beat, and no how do you do either. I laughed (not hearing what she said, because let's be honest, Dave is f'king awesome) assumed she said something about the mask, so I took off my headphones and pointed to my mask and said "yeah hah, I'm going in to rob the place".
Hillarious me.
Then I realised after hearing her words and looking into her hateful resentful soulless eyes, that not only wasn't she laughing at my terrific, off the cuff street wit, she was actually wanting to know exactly where I got the mask from, how dare I have one as her daughter (who works in a care home) isn't provided with masks etc and yet Ebbw Vales own walking talking one man David Lee Roth appreciation society here, is.
So after informing her I actually had two medical masks on (the disposable kind), one back to front and the other the correct way round..I explained to her that I too was a carer and my Mrs actually works on a Covid19 ward, and that you (she) really needs me (and the Mrs) to wear a mask, as I frankly could easily be super speader central.
She didn't apologise, or even listen to me (the red mist had descended) just kept rabbiting on resent'tardedly, but fortunately it was my turn to enter the shop, that had quickly cleared.
Guess the point I want to bring up is wear a mask. There are many partners of nurses, or nurses themselves all doing shopping and bouncing around the community to David Lee Roth who you all need to be protected from.
Believe me I (like all partners of nurses) get all of virologies greatest hits off the Mrs, there is no way I am not going to get this at some stage.

It’s reassuring to know I’m not the only one who gets the “I know better” Appreciation Society. TBH it’s not so reassuring: rather it’s depressing. Walking round town today one could sense there are thousands who will kick off about wearing a mask whilst having zero understanding about why one should do so. Maybe it’s a lack of adequate government communication - or maybe it’s just stupidity.

It's one of the few things that I'm actively engaging the morons on, in facebook groups etc. I know I won't convince them, but it's important that people see both sides, and don't get convinced by "experts".
It does annoy me when you get health and safety experts being touted as knowledgeable on this when compared to virologists and epidemiologists. Yes, the virus particle is small, but it doesn't travel just on it's own

I have noticed that police and ambulance crews who buy their lunch in my local shop are never wearing masks. Surely they are more likely than most to be at risk of carrying the virus, and should be setting an example.

The Government's lack of pandemic planning is taking a hammering this morning - as is the early scientific response (herd immunity?) and actions.

People are sometimes stupid, harried, busy forgetful and or lazy.
There is no more useful a tool, to get people to wise up than an on the spot fine.
I am also for insisting that everyone who visits the pub gives up their right to NHS treatment for Covid. That they agree that if they get this, from visiting pubs, they will go home and deal with it quietly.
The thought that Doctors and Nursesare put at risk from this horrible virus, just because people want to get pissed pisses me off no end.

Tbf I’m not sure what is so confusing. Yes, the detailed guidance was late again and we have had the odd off message pic, but the general tenor seems pretty clear. Wear an effing mask unless there is clear guidance it’s okay not to. And even then this is the mandatory stuff. The fact that I’m “allowed” to go to the pub without a mask doesn’t mean I have to. I’m not defending the government here - just pissed off by people who use any excuse not to do what they damn well should. That’s not a dig at you but one sees it everyday

Not loving the fact that case numbers aren't dropping in the UK. Yes we're seeing less deaths, but that's going to be coming from historical cases, I'd want to see more drops in new cases discovered before things open up too much. Hopefully masks will help a bit.
