No vaccine has yet been tested on children, so they're not approved.

Thought the Moderna one was tested on 12 and older, might be wrong.

They only started testing on 12+ at the start of December; and we have a limited qty on order, and delivery won't be till Spring at the earliest anyway - and it's not been signed off by MHRA yet for any age groups regardless. Pfizer also started testing in early December. Realistically nothing will be approved for under 18s till next summer

So where the fuck do priorities lie.
Morriston Hospital, major covid centre in my area. The first to get the vaccine were the administration staff.. What the flying fuck?
My parents, both in their 90s, no sign yet, nursing homes, no sign yet, my mum now has to have post in test as she's been ill since Xmas day, we're all in 10 day lockdown as are my daughter and my brother as they've both visited, albeit briefly and distanced, yesterday..

I was in a hospital in Atlanta the other day, and all the nurses have had their first vaccine.

Welsh government say they're largely following the gov.uk guidelines, but don't say where they're differing from them. But I don't think admin should have got it first under either system.

90s should be expecting it inside the next week, care homes maybe not due to the technical challenges, but it's down to the Welsh government to manage inside Wales

One thing I would be critical about in the various roll out plans is where homes are having to have multiple visits for staff, >90, >80, >70 etc, etc

Why wouldn't they just visit the home once for the first jab & do everyone then, & then again for the 2nd ?

I'm sure the same applies in other settings, where you know you'll be making ten visits, when you know everyone could be done in just two

Well it was very well observed when we had a proper lockdown earlier in the year.
I beg to differ. As far as I can tell, you guys have never had a truly hard lockdown. I could be wrong, but IMO until you do, unfortunately I think you will keep yo-yoing. There also needs to be better coordination in Europe in general. has the horse bolted, but in terms of the pandemic (I don't think so) and in the public attitude to halting it?

Saint, I've no grevious about our government, Drippy Drayford has done well for a damp sponge persona, he's made some difficult choices, stood by them, and, as we've seen, some success. The rising rate of infections is down to the fucking numbnuts who think they're immune.
However, the distribution and who gets the vaccine first is being handled by the Welsh nhs, suprisingly, the fucking ones who decide, have decided they get it first!...

The government have been very quiet, especially with 40k+ positive cases and 2000+ hospitalisations a day now.
And that's with limited reporting over Christmas, and the impact of the Christmas travel still to come...

Surely with the vaccination programme now started and the NHS starting to buckle, they could work with the public to lockdown in January for one final push, and limit the loss of life? Why do they have to wait for things to get totally out of hand before doing something?

The reason some non clinical staff are being vaccinated first is I would guess because the government have data leading them to believe they are the ones spreading it in hospitals. And have told them to vaccinate accordingly.

Care homes (both residents and staff) are specifically called out as part of the first phase in the published guidelines. The only thing delaying a bulk rollout to all care homes are the complexities of the transport requirements.

If they're confident that they can do this, then surely there's an even stronger case to lockdown in January, as they can be pretty confident it'll be the last one?

That's typically what happens when you fail to tie payments to performance on public service contracts.

I wonder why it isn't a standard condition on any PSC ?????

Anecdotally in October I sat at a pub from 1800 - 2200 right next to someone whom had a positive test result the next day, having swabbed the day prior.

The app notification told me I didn't need to isolate. Seems a clear as day event that should have said otherwise.

Incidentally an actual test I took 3 days later as part of the Ipso Mori prevalence survey, returned negative (but probs too early to show). I isolated for 14 days anyway.

So it’s not a reflection on the current state of rules.
There’s a valid point here. Certainly people were more personally worried I think
Just personally, but back then I wasn’t that worried about getting it but wanted to do the right thing. This time I’m really not keen on getting it having seen a lot of damage it has caused close to home.

I suppose it’s a bit of human nature that if you don’t experience it, it’s difficult to get your head round it. Of course some people are just cunts as well

I only know of 2 people who have had it and were laid up for a couple of days.

I see the next lockdown as taking it for the team I.e. a few more months of this whilst the vaccine is banged out 24 x 7.

2 family members have had it, both seriously ill for a week and still not right several weeks later, run out of breath easily etc. Both were very healthy beforehand. Neighbours had it, father still runs out of breath walking down the garden, still coughing, his son was in ICU with it and thankfully pulled through but now has a heart problem.

The rising rate of infections is down to the fucking numbnuts who think they're immune.
However, the distribution and who gets the vaccine first is being handled by the Welsh nhs, suprisingly, the fucking ones who decide, have decided they get it first!...
Welsh NHS report to Welsh government. So if Welsh NHS admin get it first that's been signed off by Drayford
The reason some non clinical staff are being vaccinated first is I would guess because the government have data leading them to believe they are the ones spreading it in hospitals. And have told them to vaccinate accordingly.

Also maybe they don’t have PPE for protection, AND they work normal office hours so are there every day rather than shifts where it will take a week to capture all the medical staff? it does seem bonkers that the whole hospital staff can’t be vaccinated together though.
