As has been said, the only way rugby can survive both credibly and as a spectator sport is to legislate tackles to be no higher than the waist.

1/4 final. Semifinal. Final.
All 1 point wins against 3 out the best 4 teams in the world (excluding us obviously).
I'm over 50, no signs of blood pressure problems, cholesterol etc. But rugby is going to give me a great attack nonetheless.
Straight in the side, too.
Plenty to complain about, and it was the dreadful final this dogshit tournament deserved, but NZ can only blame themselves. The number of times they failed to execute basic skills was just incredible, and with Beauden Barrett having an all time stinker of a game it was genuinely incredible that he played the full 80. I reckon his display and him playing 80 was a bigger factor in the SA win than anything else - Cane's red and PSDT's performance included.
Absolutely mind blowing idiocy to keep him on.

Fuck me, well played ABs full hearted performance. Disruption of the SA lineout was key to staying in the game.
I thought the Cane red was harsh, Eben should've copped yellow for the lazy runner pen.
PSdT MOM performance.

You mean the forward pass by telea for the try?!ScarfaceClaw wrote: ↑Sat Oct 28, 2023 9:12 pmI don’t want to go full enzedder on Wayne Barnes but there were some fucking awful calls in that match.
We still could've won, but didn't. If a side's not good enough to take capricious officials out of the equation, it's going to lose. Simple as that.

ABs showed just what a fantastic team they are. So close to hearing us with only 14 players.
Pure class.

NZ missed their kicks and spent forever going to the corner.
SA have ground this out, admirable in its own way if poor for the sport.
Feel remarkably disappointed. Dull game

Spot on. I have concluded that if you don't understand the ref and buck against him you are asking for trouble
A one point cliff-hanger in a RWC Final and you're not entertained? Sad.Paddington Bear wrote: ↑Sat Oct 28, 2023 9:19 pm NZ missed their kicks and spent forever going to the corner.

The ending was great, the preceding 75 minutes?Gumboot wrote: ↑Sat Oct 28, 2023 9:24 pmA one point cliff-hanger in a RWC Final and you're not entertained? Sad.Paddington Bear wrote: ↑Sat Oct 28, 2023 9:19 pm NZ missed their kicks and spent forever going to the corner.

Strangely, watching teams flail around making poor decisions, kicking badly, and dropping the ball constantly is not entertaining. We should know, after all.Gumboot wrote: ↑Sat Oct 28, 2023 9:24 pmA one point cliff-hanger in a RWC Final and you're not entertained? Tense and close contest? Yes.
Poor game, poor tournament and idiosyncratic officiating.Gumboot wrote: ↑Sat Oct 28, 2023 9:24 pmA one point cliff-hanger in a RWC Final and you're not entertained? Sad.Paddington Bear wrote: ↑Sat Oct 28, 2023 9:19 pm NZ missed their kicks and spent forever going to the corner.

That red card has lifted NZ big time. Total respect for that performance. Keep your heads up high.
And. Great too see they keep their medals around their necks!

Yes, as a neutral I can see how it wasn't the English style free flowing try-fest you're used to, but even though we lost, I enjoyed it.Paddington Bear wrote: ↑Sat Oct 28, 2023 9:25 pmThe ending was great, the preceding 75 minutes?Gumboot wrote: ↑Sat Oct 28, 2023 9:24 pmA one point cliff-hanger in a RWC Final and you're not entertained? As my wife is used to me saying, I refuse to watch England sober. I expect to be entertained as a neutralGumboot wrote: ↑Sat Oct 28, 2023 9:28 pmYes, as a neutral I can see how it wasn't the English style free flowing try-fest you're used to, but even though we lost, I enjoyed it.

The biggest indictment of the game is England may have being competitive in it*Gumboot wrote: ↑Sat Oct 28, 2023 9:28 pmYes, as a neutral I can see how it wasn't the English style free flowing try-fest you're used to, but even though we lost, I enjoyed it.

I think they are quite a poor side. They only managed a one point win over a 14 man ABs who were clearly rattled by the officiating. SA were dragged over the line today by WR for some reason.
As I said a sad day for rugby and the day it died.

So we got beaten by a poor side. Says more about us than them.Muttonbird wrote: ↑Sat Oct 28, 2023 9:48 pmI think they are quite a poor side. They only managed a one point win over a 14 man ABs who were clearly rattled by the officiating. SA were dragged over the line today by WR for some reason.
