Anecdotally in October I sat at a pub from 1800 - 2200 right next to someone whom had a positive test result the next day, having swabbed the day prior.

The app notification told me I didn't need to isolate. Seems a clear as day event that should have said otherwise.

Incidentally an actual test I took 3 days later as part of the Ipso Mori prevalence survey, returned negative (but probs too early to show). I isolated for 14 days anyway.

These are the stupid cunts spreading it, if he was swabbed he should have been in isolation until he got his test result NOT as a result of him testing positive.

To be fair he mentioned he took the test as part of a similar survey, so wasn't overly fussed (not a mate anyway).

That said, thinking now only certain tests are used to plug results into the mobile app. So could be sus.


Separately have just returned from SA, and had a call from border force/NHS/servo/whomever, instructing to get an NHS test in 7-8 days.

Would still prefer they request test before travel, test immediately after travel (at travellers expense) and in the case of countries of concern (or positive test on flight), a further test several days down the line whilst still requiring the traveller to quarantine at designated hotels.

But better than nothing I suppose, guess it will be the mantra re government until at least 2024.

I'm sure they do. , I'd expect nothing else from a group of developers wanting to get their money, & bunch of Tory boy officials who have to justify the inflated price the UK tax payer paid for developing an app separately from most countries.

Their algorithms can be as sophisticated as they like; but unfortunately you can't massage accuracy into shit data; & that's the problem with using bluetooth as a distance sensor. There's even a meme !

My next door neighbour had their son down from up north, their other sons + family and their own sisters etc all over for Christmas.

I took the dog out for a walk and it was as busy as I’ve seen it in months. People meeting up at houses (cars outside, people coming and going), big groups out walking together. People driving like absolute morons. They all deserve everything they get.

Long Covid is only going to get worse. Lung, heart and other organ damage in people under 60 will cost the NHS billions in the future.

Also maybe they don’t have PPE for protection, AND they work normal office hours so are there every day rather than shifts where it will take a week to capture all the medical staff? it does seem bonkers that the whole hospital staff can’t be vaccinated together though.

NHS Tayside are basically operating an open door policy for anyone in the NHS (not just Tayside health board, we can make apps too). So lots of patient facing staff, including staff in covid wards, are getting it after admin staff. Given you have 5 days to use the vaccine from delivery its not an easy job as you don't want wastage. That being said I'm sure there's a better way to do this, get staff from the covid wards at the beginning/end of their shift or phone all of them in the first couple of weeks. By week 3 it becomes harder to vaccinate new people as you need to prioritise those whove had the first dose.

Its irrelevant about being a spreader as you will still spread the virus even if immune.

Last I read its considered highly likely and they were unsure how infectious those vaccinated will be.

Despite that those at most risk of seeing covid positive patients deserve to get it first.

Not a chance the govt is going to underwrite 500,000 x £9250 plus drive 1,000,000 parents bonkers at the thought of extending their little darlings education by yet another year. They need accomodating and feeding - cost to each family circa £6k if they get full loan.

Fine. Then keep them home until end April. Full time school from May to mid August, 2 weeks school holidays and back again until December. Kids don’t need 2 months off in Summer 2021.

The lack of lateral thinking from the Govt and patents is astounding.

I realised why you have to, just it’s the limiting factor. On joining the army we had about 8 jabs in about a minute, you walked between two lines with your hands on your hips...

Even if AZ were to be approved today, don't be expecting mass rollout to be starting on the 4th. We'll get the first 4 million or so doses in January, but production of enough quantity to complete the over 50s won't be till end of Feb - let alone actual delivery

Nope. Lots of reports of imminent being leaked by government ministers, but MHRA are staying tight lipped.

Az submitted final data to the regulator so unless theres a problem I imagine it will approved within the week.

Over 50k new cases today...I suspect a national lockdown beyond current tier 4 redtrictions is on the way

In personnel news myself, my wife, my mum and kids all confirmed positive today. The inlaws had a test today but the MiL is probaly a positive.

None of us have chronic symptoms fortunately. I had what I would normally think was a mild winter cold. The wife lost smell and taste and had an upset stomach.

Kids just have runny noses.
