She had to go though. In the last two weeks two pretty clear examples of sexism in the met came out only a few months after they tried to convince us the rapey murdering pc was a one off bad apple. Root and branch change needed in the police, again.

Although considering she got the job after the Jean Charles de Menezes shooting it doesn't inspire hope in the replacement.

It depends:

If you are someone trying to get a message across it's a very quick and effective way of getting something out there. Also comedians/authors etc can reach a v wide audience pretty quickly.

As a source of breaking news it's v useful as well. There are also some wonderfully interesting threads from people with really niche interests- one the other day on when the Mediterranean sea dried out was fascinating.

As someone who mostly just pans through it, you've got to be careful how you curate your feed. At it's best it's entertaining, funny and informative. At it's worst it a horrible hellish cesspit. Much like everywhere really nowadays

Must admit I never look at it unless a link takes me there. I suppose the only time I hear of it is when somebody’s embarrassed themselves on it.

Boris Johnson has received a questionnaire from the Metropolitan Police as part of the inquiry into parties at Downing Street and Whitehall during the Covid lockdowns.

No 10 confirmed that the prime minister had been contacted by the police and said he would "respond as required".

The questionnaire has the same status as information given in an interview under caution.

Chagos Islands: Mauritian flag raised on British-controlled islands

Three UN bodies have ruled that the archipelago - more than 5,000 miles away from the UK - is part of Britain's old empire and should be handed to Mauritius.

There would be a certain symmetry to that.

In 1956, the UK & France refused to admit the loss of Empire, & launched an idiotic & criminal military effort against Egypt; & in so doing, distracted the US, & the rest of the world, from the brutal Russian suppression of Hungary. All presided over by a preening, privileged failure of a Tory Leader, who thought attending Eton, & Oxford meant he could do no wrong.
