Speaking as someone who has been stumped after a not out LBW call batting out of his crease who held the pose for a little too long. Like about 10 seconds too long before it occurred to the keeper that he could take the bails off.
Surely the ball becomes dead in that time, if all one side is doing is appealing and the other waiting for the result of the appeal? No one's trying to play cricket at that point.

Not only that but a quite remarkable symmetry in the bowling figures

Hannon-Dalby 14.1- 0- 49- 3, rr 3.46
Hamza 13.0- 3- 49- 3, rr 3.77
Barnard 13.0- 4- 49- 3, rr 3.77
H Brookes 12.0- 3- 49- 1, rr4.08
Nice.

You went blissfully quiet when England won a game and were giving the Aussies a pasting in this one after your anti-English ranting at 0-2. Just because Deepsouth has made an arse of himself, doesn't mean you have to as well.

Also we haven't lost the Ashes, and Australia haven't won them. We can't regain them, but they weren't ours to lose in the first place. Australia have a chance to win them outright but if they lose the final Test then they retain them by default on a draw, which isn't quite the same thing.

I would also love to know what irony has to do with any of this.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ...

Now my incessantly shrill temper tantrums about England getting the benefit of the toss 4 times is going to come back and bite me - England to be 450 - 2 at the end of the day.

It's been fascinating to watch each team's response to the loss of their best spinner.

55-0, sounds like Starc and Hazlewood bowling a fair few bad balls (so bad that Marsh is on after 9 overs) but Cummins is causing problems - quite a few plays and misses.

Warner has apparently dropped a sitter, which I'm sure we're all very sad to hear.

Now 66-2 - Marsh gets Duckett with a tickle down leg, and Cummins deservedly gets Crawley.

If the sky is anything like here 25 miles away, it's a heavy and rather gloomy atmosphere unlikely to improve much later, would certainly think it should help bowlers

Caery dropped a sitter, Bairstow passed on the bug...

(well okay sitter is an exaggeration )
I don't know whether that is just tiredness. That's a bad miss. Carey's legs just flattened, he didn't have any power to go across. It was a straight forward edge, he would've seen that the whole way.

There's a 3 in 8 chance of one team or another getting either 4-1 or 5-0 coin toss wins in a 5 test series.

Scotland beat Denmark by 33 runs. Fairly comfortable for an 18 over game.

Scotland qualify for the T20 World Cup next year, presumably in West Indies and the USA still, although dates and venues haven't been announced.

Ireland and Scotland play tomorrow in what is pretty much a dead rubber.

Bairstow back to being a useless fuck - absolutely dreadful shot. I hope Sky interview him today! Would be good to see if the angry sneering arrogance was still there. 2 50s in 8 innings. Roll out the red carpet for the moody ginger Yorkshire twat.

To be fair on that one he wouldn't have had sight of it all the way, but a younger more agile keeper may have got to it if they'd moved across a bit in anticipation since it was always going down leg side

Yes, his footwork and anticipation are also substandard, like his catching and his general agility & response time

Still holding the pose means he hasn’t completed the movement of playing the shot. So it’s still live imo.

A Test quality keeper would've had a much better chance, at least. Bairstow gives himself no chance.
