Mrs Saint says they might need 2-3 days for the training shortfall, but would still need to be observed fir some time, and is unsure about the insurance/legal aspects. Their professional registration probably wouldn't cover them, so you'd need legal protection to be put in place to protect them. Again, you're risking another hook for the antivaxxers to grab on to

Vets are probably 100% qualified at least in all the medical areas - they deliver thousands more vaccinations a year than any human medic

The trust would accept vacarious liability atm and most health care rwgulators atm like the nmc have special measures in place to cover extended roles during Covid.

If we can end this lockdown quicker, I’ll let a bus driver do it to me.

Give them a 1 day admin course and set them loose
Sounds good !, as long as they don't pull on the long gloves, or want to take my temperature, I'm in :)
If the vaccinations are happening in a fixed location, with say ten bays; would it really be necessary for there to have 10x people who've done the whole certification ?
Wouldn't it be reasonable to have say 1x fully qual'd person for each 5x bays; just so there's someone who is ready to step in, if required ?

By law at the moment, yes. Even with the trust accepting various liabilities as C69 outlined, something needs to change to get away with what you'be just outlined. And it would need to be fully documented, assessed etc to stand up to the legal case when something went wrong that wasn't really related.
I know it sounds like a lot of red tape, but this is the sort of stuff that helps provide confidence in the system for the general public

I know it shouldn't; but this made me laugh, as I remembered that the same kind of regulations are/were required for administering lethal injections in the US
You're killing the poor sod; does he really care if you're an MD or a taxidermist ?
As you say; it's all happening in the structures of a health service that is administering millions of vaccinations every year, so there's a structure that's developed, & keeping peoples faith in that is important.

I am currently fighting the lockdown blues by watching Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom. On my own. Whilst drinking beer.
Where did the adventure start today?
The little castle, but they went into space to fix planet Bong.

Can’t they just post it out (2nd class) to people direct and then I can just jab myself?
*Matt Hancock takes notes*
*Matt Hancock, great idea SS I have arranged a meeting with Deliveroo for 0900. Another UK world first vaccine delivery service*

Six cases of the UK strain have been picked up in isolation in NZ. Fingers crossed this doesn’t manage to cross the border.

I can imagine all the Karen's on Facebook asking for the "boarders" to be closed and refusing Kiwis the right to return home.

I remember Bimbo mocking me on the other place when, after a particularly irritating bout of his brand of disinformation, I stated that I found the bored a useful resource.
However, I do get a lot of my information on here and the ideas put forward and subsequent discussion makes this a valuable font. Particularly since we are free of Bimbo's tendency to muddy the waters albeit only temporarily.

Yes. We don’t have community transmission here currently (touch wood) so the only cases we are picking up are recent returnees in Government quarantine.

India grants a limited emergency use approval to Bharat Biotech's vaccine.
This is much closer to traditional vaccines, being an inactivated (I.e. dead) Covid various vaccine.
Controversial as their stage 3 trial is incomplete. They have data from 10,000 volunteer with a single shot and 10,000 with a dual shot, but the thresholds have not been met
Boris happy to continue the tradition of choosing the worst response possible.
meanwhile in completely unrelated news.
New polling by YouGov asked citizens from countries across the world how they think their government has faired.
People polled included the UK, Vietnam, Malaysia, Australia, Canada, Mexico, America, Spain and France.
And whilst many countries believed their government and political leaders had handled the pandemic well, a number of countries thought theirs had not.
The UK's response came joint bottom alongside Mexico, both with minus 15 points.
World beating...

National tier 4. There's not many cards left to play with

Curfews
Full French style lockdown. Travel to local essential shops only, carry a form explaining your reasons for being outside your property etc

Well done NZ on leveraging its Island status and closing borders.

Yeah, not in tier 4 at the moment, but I assume plenty of shops are still open on technicalities, rather than because they were actually essential. In tier 4 you should be in a shop buying food or medicine etc, not browsing the homeware.

I guess it was inevitable that we would be several weeks late to take appropriate steps again when the road on prevarication finally runs out. Getting a little boring now though.

Imagine the papers if he did that! The sun, telegraph, mail, spectator are already very anti lockdown if (a) people need papers to leave their house and (b) he copies the French there'll be hell to pay.

During the first lockdown last year, Boots had to lock up their makeup sections as they were unable to stop people browsing it.
I have taken to doing my shopping after 20:00 as I know the supermarket will be mostly empty by then.

I'd just like to see the, 'one person per trolley', rule re-introduced; we're back to the full family shopping trips, & that means too many people in the aisles.
