The UK can do an Election in six weeks; the US takes years, & the amount of money to do so is enormous.
The DNC will wait till the Autumn, after the nomination is confirmed, before they start main campaign ads; in the meanwhile the likes of the Lincoln Project keep it in the public eye.
The US electorate has an attention span measured in minutes, so there's no point wasting money running ads months ahead of when it actually matters..
