President Biden and US politics catchall
Actually he is, evidence coming to light that Trump and his goons are "pretending" public concerts etc are Trump rallies. Latest one is a packed Florida rock concert that they are spinning as a Trump rally. It really is pathetic.Flockwitt wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2024 11:14 amThe depressing thing is that he's not wrong.Kiwias wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2024 7:36 amThat is somehow very depressing. Give a man a fire and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.
Not really my point. The MAGA crowd (cultists) most certainly are 100% behind their man. And there are still a lot of them. It’s easy to forget that looking at US publicity from a distance.

It's interesting to observe the dedication (for want of a better word) followers have for their chosen one. It's not just Trump and the MAGA crowd although they are probably the most clearly defined movement we've seen in our Western 'democratic' theatre... it wouldn't matter how much factual evidence you provided, their support is unwavering and probably only strengthened by what those of us outside the bubble see as reputational damage, like court cases and guilty verdicts. The UK has its Brexiteers for a parallel... and opposition to their respective stances only serves to further entrench their views.Flockwitt wrote: ↑Mon Jun 10, 2024 12:10 amNot really my point. And a lot of it is the same age group as the Brexiters. I was in the US a week ago and Grandma (not mine) who had retired on a daily diet of Fox News was busy informing me that Trump was the Messiah and would get the USA back to where it was.Guy Smiley wrote: ↑Mon Jun 10, 2024 12:37 amIt's interesting to observe the dedication (for want of a better word) followers have for their chosen one. But it is a chunk more complex than that. The red states are staying red regardless so it does come down to the few swing states. One thing I noticed was inflation has hit a lot of basics hard (much like the rest of the world) so even though Biden has been a pretty good President in all sorts of ways, done more to getting back manufacturing to the US than any President in 50 years, record low unemployment etc, the vibes aren’t there.

It's a common theme, isn't it? Inflation and the appeal of the conservative side to 'fix it'.Flockwitt wrote: ↑Mon Jun 10, 2024 12:51 am One thing I noticed was inflation has hit a lot of basics hard (much like the rest of the world) so even though Biden has been a pretty good President in all sorts of ways, done more to getting back manufacturing to the US than any President in 50 years, record low unemployment etc, the vibes aren’t there.
Grumpy old farts of our generation of which there are more and more who as a general trend vote more conservatively as they get older for whatever reason.Guy Smiley wrote: ↑Mon Jun 10, 2024 1:10 amIt's a common theme, isn't it? How do you guys reconcile with yourself now that the Hunter Biden laptop, and all it's contents, is now proven to be true, was not "Russian disinformation" and that you were barefaced lied to by just about everyone in authority? How are you dealing with that?

Apparently Trump hasn't paid the £300k costs he was due to pay to Steele/Orbis.
Appreciate it's easy to miss the small things when you've got a lot going on - I'm sure the cheque is in the post.

As for manufacturing jobs
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/newslett ... ob-pitchesBut the bulk of that addition was simply part of a bounce back from the 2020 pandemic recession. In the 16 months since October 2022, the US economy actually has only added 34,000 manufacturing jobs. In the month of February, factory payrolls actually dropped — by 5,000.
There’s also a politically important soft spot in Biden’s manufacturing pitch, as I wrote in this Bloomberg Big Take. In three key industrial swing states (Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin) a collective 39,000 fewer people are working in manufacturing than five years ago.

Apparently he also posted another post about a massive crowd that came to see him in Florida and all the MAGA guys kept retweeting it to show how massively popular Trump is and that the election is in the bag. Turns out the crowd in the photo was for a big rock concert, he was not even there

Your turn to show the lies and misinformation Biden is presenting in torrents, btw how do you explain your Messiah's complete meltdown on social media over the last few nights. He's posting like a teen chick who couldn't get tickets to the latest boy band.
Take a moment. Like a few seconds. To see how many new factories have gone in with the inflation reduction act. That will ensure the low run employment rates are maintained for at least 2 presidential cycles.David in Gwent wrote: ↑Mon Jun 10, 2024 11:03 amhttps://www.factcheck.org/2023/08/biden ... nt-record/Flockwitt wrote: ↑Mon Jun 10, 2024 12:51 amAnd a lot of it is the same age group as the Brexiters. I'm not as addicted to following US political news as some of you, although it does fill some of my media feeds... so I haven't seen anything pop up related to what you're on about. I don't know what you're referring to here... do you have a link to any breaking news or is this an internet rumour like the one about Biden shitting his pants that the MAGA crew were so keen to believe and share?David in Gwent wrote: ↑Mon Jun 10, 2024 10:57 am How do you guys reconcile with yourself now that the Hunter Biden laptop, and all it's contents, is now proven to be true, was not "Russian disinformation" and that you were barefaced lied to by just about everyone in authority? The data on it is so corrupted with various timelines that don't match up, none of it is admissable in court..

I'm no fan of the US political system at all, regardless of side... but I do think Trump is a nightmare.

So now it comes out, conclusively, that the FBI BURIED THE HUNTER BIDEN LAPTOP STORY BEFORE THE ELECTION knowing that, if they didn’t, “Trump would have easily won the 2020 Presidential Election.” This is massive FRAUD & ELECTION INTERFERENCE at a level never seen before in our Country. REMEDY: Declare the rightful winner or, and this would be the minimal solution, declare the 2020 Election irreparably compromised and have a new Election, immediately
