Very Italian start. Great play and if only the last pass was accurate they were in.
It wasn’t.

I need you to promote me to a stunning 66% prediction success rate.
I've me a lot of Italians who don't like that phrase as its the name of a political party associated with Berlusconi. They prefer Forza Azzuri (or Forz'Azzuri)

There's the dim commentator: "downward pressure". And Carley follows suit. FM.

Yeah, sorry me neither. Italy are just not playing with any intelligence in their own 22. Crazy.

BOD was right to question the Fre backline and depth
1) Ntamack is by far the worst FH in this comp. However, Jalibert is there and Berdeu is the form player so any damage here is self inflicted.
2) Fickou is well off his best, following the drop in form of everyone at Racing.
3) Danty injured again and Moefana is no intl.
4) Penaud ditto x10 of Fickou as Clermont has imploded.
5) Villiere perma injured and Dumortier is a newbie. Without Villiere's turnovers, the defence of the backs is so much weaker: esp since Penaud and both Ramos & Jaminet are really poor defenders.

I'd take Flake in a heartbeat over Ntamack. Russell does at least contribute to a game. Ntamack is just an empty shirt except in defence.

In regards Eng, WTF has happened to Itoje? Can't be another current player in world rugby who has fallen so far, so quickly. In the space of a few years he's gone from world beater to anonymous. Is it a Sampson thing i.e. take away his clapping toy monkey nonsense and his superpowers are stripped?
He could be very average even back then. Never against Ireland and Irish teams though. Certainly not until very recently
Always thought he was a bit over rated. Very good at his best but was never going to be legend status which seemed to be bestowed on him almost immediately

I think Italy are going to be a lot more competitive this year
They will, but I think other teams will have taken note of their improvement over the last year or so and treat them accordingly, so their results will still be rubbish. Their only win last year was Wales and frankly I wouldn't expect the Welsh approach to this year's game to be anywhere near as flat and lacadaisical even without Gatland returning to give them a kick up the arse.
I think France, Scotland and Wales are all in danger against them. I think Twickenham is a step too far though, if not the England team.
