It's almost impossible to wear a mask for 20 mins and not want to readjust it a bit. It's ok to adjust it, just remember that if you touch something (marrow/bottle of wine/arse) afterwards then you could pass on the virus to the next person who touches it and then touches their own mask (ie. a small chance). So I just grab the antibac out of my pocket and give my hands a quick clean, then carry on shopping/groping.
It's amazing how quickly you can adapt to it with practice.

Vietnam has just banned the wildlife trade on the back of coronavirus.
Gonna be tough to enforce but they’re coming out of this whole thing looking pretty good.

Sorry guys but I just don't get all this wimping about wearing a face covering/mask. I'm 60 year old asthmatic and have been wearing a mask for months. It is at worst mildly irritating, mostly when you forget to take one with you, but all this melodramatic tosh about 'I can't breath', 'its too hot', 'my oxygen levels get affected' or 'it fogs my glasses up' is just childish and pathetic. Even worse is the folk shouting about the wearing of a mask 'infringes their civil liberties', 'takes away my freedom' or 'is the nanny state'. The States is the worst for this but you would think that England is going through a major feckin societal break down just because folk have to wear a mask in the shops. It really is surprising as I thought the Dunkirk and the Blitz spirit would just kick in and folk would get on with it regardless. Even more irritating is the blaming of poor gov communication or confusion, it isn't all that difficult really, if in doubt just wear a mask. The same people who complain about lack of guidance are the same ones complaining about the nanny state!
Just get the feckin mask on, stop complaining, stop whinging like a child just and carry on, it aint that difficult!
Thats a much bigger rant than I was going to type.
You are welcome - I'm good at rants! I just can't believe how much shit is being made of wearing a feckin mask during a world wide pandemic.
I was in hospital for 3 nights 4-5 weeks post very mild covid19 with a sub massive blood clot on lungs. >90% oxygen levels for a day and 94% when discharged, still wore a mask when required. Wearing a mask/covering is a lot more comfortable than having two feckin plastic tubes stuck up your nose 24 hours a day for 3 days to give you extra oxygen! Believe me when I say having to inject yourself with a blood thinner every day for 3 months is a lot more hassle than wearing a wee, thin mask in the shops.
Guys - just feckin grow a pair, stop the whinging and get the masks on.

But, but, there's no conclusive proof with mass studies and years of research that shows mask wearing does anything for covid. Just wash your hands and you'll be fine.

Practical advice > rants but TBH I'm too old, too depressed and fatalistic to care about myself any more. If I catch it I'll probably die alone, unnoticed without the chance to infect anyone else.

You'll probably not have any symptoms for the first week, plenty of time to infect others :). No idea how old you are, but my 80 year old dad had it, suffered from muscle soreness only thankfully. He has a dodgy heart and already has slight clotting issues.

Just for clarity I'm not overly fussed if people wear them or not it's the complaining about a very minor inconvenience. That and the selfies. I'm not sure which annoy me more.

If it's strong enough alcohol it can still be effective. Most being sold now (by legit sources) should be adequate to inactivate the virus.

As expected, the latest ONS study shows an increase (at best, a levelling off of previous declines), for the 13th-19th July. 2800 new cases a day, in place of 1700 for the previous week.

I'd love to see a breakdown for how much of this in in hotspots, such as Leicester. From a quick glance at the ONS link, I don't think they;re breaking it down like that.

Perhaps not as much as you'd like to think. If the numbers are going up, unless behaviours change, they will keep going up.
Considering the figures on prevalence where I live, and that I understand social distancing it’s pretty much exactly as I think.
I’m back in the gym tomorrow morning.

The Times is reporting that 48 million people in England live in areas that haven't seen a single new case of Coronavirus for the last 4 weeks. Transmission is nomponger a country wide issue, but a very localised problem, do while caution still needs to be taken as we continue to loosen lockdown, I think it's pretty reasonable to be looking to loosen things off while having localised lockdowns where there's hotspots

I'm not suggesting we lockdown again, and masks should help the current trend. But it only takes one person to travel to one of those locations, and things can grow from there. Not long ago it was Leicester and some others, now there's 20 more being flagged as at risk of local lockdowns. Chances are, a few seeds have already spread from those places to others.

Which is why we have facemasks, distancing, and track and trace. But with those sorts of numbers we really have to unlock further otherwise we simply won't unlock at all

If you think it only takes one person to change the infection rate across the country with this virus I’ll wager you’ve not really been paying attention.

Florida, Texas, & California with a combined number of daily deaths > 500.
The inevitable outcome of the massive increase in the number of daily cases over the last few weeks; & this is despite the average age of the dropping considerably

So it’s less than 24 hours until mandatory face masks in shops and there is still confusion everywhere. This Government is a joke shop!
Tbf I’m not sure what is so confusing. Yes, the detailed guidance was late again and we have had the odd off message pic, but the general tenor seems pretty clear. Wear an effing mask unless there is clear guidance it’s okay not to. And even then this is the mandatory stuff. The fact that I’m “allowed” to go to the pub without a mask doesn’t mean I have to. I’m not defending the government here - just pissed off by people who use any excuse not to do what they damn well should. That’s not a dig at you but one sees it everyday
What’s confusing is the leaders of the other three nations in the Uk have said -
“Do this, it saves lives, sorry if you don’t like it, but that’s what we have to do”
In England the leader has said “well, so something like his but if that’s not ok, then do somethingelse similar, baaaaa, baaa, I wa mayor, bridges, terrible jocks, were out of Europe, baaaaa, baaaaa, wear a mask if you think that’s ok, I’m not wearing one or perhaps I will, it depends, what does Dominic think, but you people should other it might be your fault, bwaaaah, beaaaah, brexit by the end of the year, mwah mwah love me”
I understand that face coverings are mandatory in Scotland, and rightly so. Are you saying they have now been made mandatory in Wales and Northern Ireland? When was that?

Masks makes another difference, but if numbers are increasing again and we're getting more local lockdowns, clearly We're getting something wrong to the degree of opening.

Broadly speaking, because people stop following the guidance
If the nationwide level.of reopening was wrong, you would be seeing nationwide community infection. We're not.

Clearly the extra 20 cases after mass testing at sites of local out breaks means the people in Norfolk should stay at home until the virus disappears....
Or in fact we’re down to a handful of deaths from Covid while many more die and suffer from the lockdowns.

Yes, if your only objective is to reduce the number of new cases. But that isn’t the only objective, is it? Why lock down the whole country when the outbreaks are more localised?
