Still, could be worse, it's not like it's £4.7bn or anything, what twat would let that slide out the door?
That’s assuming the facts allow for a PI claim. Otherwise GLP will be footing the bill, possibly after some further expense of arbitration with the insurers or maybe further litigation.
I'd say if PI doesn't cover it, then Bindmans are on the hook if they cocked it up, and their Office Account takes a bashing.
It's an interesting point when the government's legal department knew what was going on. It might be technically correct what's transpired, it doesn't exactly reek of natural justice. Still, an appeal may be allowed and I doubt they'll have trouble raising the funds if they can proceed with that

That's frequently so where there's been pre-action correspondence, early sight of pleadings and the like. It's entirely usual. What the courts look for is where a defendant has been obstructive or has misled a claimant about arrangements for service. That didn't apply here; entirely the opposite.

I would find it very hard to believe that Jolyon has never taken a point on irregular service or limitation in defence of his clients. And why shouldn't he? Them's the rules. Just ask Mr Barton of Barton v Wright Hassall fame - a Supreme Court judgment referred to 21 times in the COA's judgment and that I expect will torpedo any application for permission to appeal to the Supreme Court.

Aside from the immediate legal position, though, I have a sneaking suspicion that the majority of the COA thought that GLP has no standing and that these challenges are just political showboating.

Well, except for all the ones that have succeeded and shown the Government and the chums to be snouts in the trough with fuck all oversight or due process, but that doesn't seem to trouble you at all compared to a couple of bad calls by GLP.

Most people don't know about the GLP and give less than 2 fucks about them if they do.
They care about the spiralling petrol prices, tax increases and massive hikes in Energy coupled with massive inflation and increased mortgages.
They give more than 2 fucks about the uselessness of government.

Question Time last night was an evisceration of the Tories by former supporters and voters.

I agree - until the huge price increases actually hit it all seems like a phoney war talked up on the tv. However once the full impact of bills the gas and lecky come through the letterbox, the price of the weekly shop goes through the roof, inflation hits 10% then all hell will break loose.

The 2-3 hour waits in the non EU passport control channel in Malaga airport or the huge queues for the Ferry or Channel tunnel will probably be the last straw for many. For some of the zealots this will just be white noise but I think that the light switch will click on for many that this shit show of a Gov is what they voted for and regrets will be many.

Just played golf with a guy in local club who was talking about retiring and using his lump sum to buy a villa in Spain and live there for 6 months of the year. I said he wouldn't be allowed to stay for more than 90 days in any 180 days and he was shocked! He thought he could get round it by going to Portugal or Greece for the other days until I told him the 90 days was of whole of EU. He was amazed that he would need to apply for a visa or similar to stay longer and there might be conditions that apply! He wasn't a stupid guy but had no idea that Brexit affected him.

Without any increase of Universal Credit, pensions or other benefits we are going to see levels of poverty on the streets of the UK we haven't seen for many, many years. Next winter we will see huge increases in families and older folk in dire straights unable to heat and eat properly. Children and elderly will be most affected. Social care, NHS and other services will not be able to cope. It is going to be a feckin disaster for those unfortunate to be at the lower end, or even the middle, of the income scale. The economic shock for many and the lack of disposable income is also going to lead to a major contraction in spending and an economic recession of significant proportions.

I watched Rishi telling SNP MP that the £200 loan for gas and electric wasn't a loan but was merely spreading the pain over a number of years and there was no interest to be paid. Then when challenged by Angela Eagles that he made political choices when deciding not to help those on benefits he denied this and said they were off setting a third of the increases. His short lived time in the spotlight has surely gone now? He is just a spoiled, wee, rich cnut.

So then, Met Police are going to issue fines for parties which once according to our PM never happened...
Twenty fines are being issued for breaches of Covid rules. But that does not mean 20 people are being fined. Some individuals could be getting more than one fixed penalty notice.

The people being fined have not yet been told, the statement implies. The Met says:
We will today initially begin to refer 20 fixed penalty notices to be issued for breaches of Covid-19 regulations. The ACRO Criminal Records Office will then be responsible for issuing the FPNs to the individual following the referrals from the MPS.

Proven liar in full arselicking mode. "My judgement"   We all know how good this cunt's judgement is!

Matt Hancock says the PM should not consider resigning over partygate, adding: “on Covid the PM got the big calls right, if you think about it most countries are still in covid restrictions...we were one of the first countries out because of getting those calls right”
"My judgement without a shadow of a doubt is that the best person to lead the country is Boris Johnson, who is keeping us safe...that is very clear to anyone who watches the news every night". Says he would also say that if Johnson were to be issued with a fine by police.

Weren't they investigation ~12 parties ?

So even though they took weeks to investigate, & got signed questionnaires from ~100 people; they're issuing fines to 2-3 people per party ???

This is only the first tranche of fines. The Met has confirmed that they are still assessing a considerable amount of material and that more fines will follow.

I’m guessing these are for people who didn’t provide any excuse for breaking the rules (so no further investigation necessary), and possibly only went to one party (so no need for cumulative fines).

The £1000s that Bojo should be fined for attending multiple parties may take some time to come.

When you see the frankly, half-assed way the Met has investigated actual Murders; taking this long, & this amount of resources to issue a few fucking fixed penalties is equally disgusting & corrupt.

I expect those who get fined if singled out are likely to be pretty pissed off particularly if those in charge don't get fined. Could be some fun leaks.

Exactly !

If it was a Party you have to fine everyone who admitted attending. FULL STOP !

And if you have evidence that people attended parties that they deny, e.g. Photos etc; then you fine them & start a criminal investigation into obstruction, & perjury; because they had the opportunity to come clean, & lied to the Investigation

Agreed - they all need to resign. Given a few of the parties were in No10 and indeed in Carrie's brothel upstairs then either she or the both of them should be fined £10,000. The excuse that the West needs the Blonde Bumblecunt's leadership in its hour of need with the war in Ukraine is frankly laughable - most of the Western and US leaders think he is a joke and compromised by the Russians anyway.

Those who make the laws cannot be found to have broken those laws!

As long as they accept and pay for the FPN then nothing on Police National Computer. If they decide to not pay or argue against in court and still found guilty then it could lead to greater fine or imprisonment ... and a record.

FPN limit was increased to £10,000 under the covid regulations introduced to deter folk from organising events and parties. I would be amazed if there isn't at least one person who isn't fined £10k, how else did No10 staff know when to bring in booze, organise quiz night, set up zoom, etc? If my name was on the emails inviting folk to the organised parties or booked the catering then I would be worried. I suspect there might be an issue for Mrs Blonde Bumblecunt given that at least one party was held in flat at No 10. If a junior civil servant is fined the max then expect leaks bigger than the hole in the Titanic.
