Good to see the Home Secretary protecting our borders from the hoardes of Ukranian refugees!!
The UK has granted only 2,700 visas under its much advertised Homes for Ukraine sponsorship scheme more than two weeks after its launch, according to Home Office figures released on Wednesday
The department also released updated figures about the number of people who have been granted visas to come to stay with British relatives. The Ukraine Family scheme, which has been running since the start of March, has issued 22,800 visas.
More than 3.9 million refugees have left Ukraine, with the vast majority of them settling in Poland, according to the UNHCR. An estimated 6.5 million people have been displaced within Ukraine.
Too bloody true old sport!!!
Lord Harrington, the refugees minister, said changes had been made to the application scheme to try to streamline it, but agreed further improvements were needed.

The Home Office also considers the best method to pair a Ukranian person/family with those UK households looking to accommodate is for both sides to find each other by chance on social media and then present their willingness to proceed with their proposed housing solution back to the Home Office. I suppose you could cite there's more Patel should be doing to protect some extremely vulnerable people, but it'll probably all work out without anyone getting abused

Maybe they could claim they're allowing Zuckerberg a chance to take centre stage as Facebook brings people together even in a time such as this. But it does feel like there should be something a smidge more official in place

Petty Patel and the Home Office are really just a shower of cnuts! The Williams report on Windrush and how the HO has implemented previous recommendations for change from 18 months ago, for this type of report, is pretty damning.

Yes, it really does look like they're hoping as many as possible die before receiving the compensation owed. Only a small fraction has been paid so far
Only 8 of the 30 reccomendations from the 2020 report have been implemented to daste. About par for the course from Patel
The Home Office has failed to transform its culture or to become a more compassionate department as it promised to do after the Windrush scandal, a critical inspection report has found.
Expressions of disappointment appear 14 times in the progress report published by independent expert Wendy Williams, who was appointed to advise the Home Office on how to reform to avoid any future crisis.
Reviewing the department’s progress in its commitments to addressing the problems caused by the Windrush scandal, Williams said while officials had been ambitious in some areas she was “disappointed by the lack of tangible progress or drive to achieve the cultural changes required”.

Apart from his wife's £gazillions invested in Russia, I wonder how the Hedge Fund he set up before becoming an MP is doing in these difficult times?

Is he deluded? He's basically saying his call for businesses to avoid dealings with Russia shouldn't be held against his own family because the rules are just for the plebs, such thinking has promoted Boris to No.10 and Rishi to No.11 with a decent (albeit for now fading) shot at No.10. He's less deluded than he is aware, he's just also somewhat entitled in his thinking

Spouse's and partner's business interests and earnings are covered by the Ministerial Code and therefore questions can be asked about them

I see the next election is now confirmed as a culture war shitshow as the cover of the Daily Mail has taken up the Women's Rights cudgel with a campaign by some lovely WOMEN who are going to ask every candidate standing about WOMEN AND PENISES.
Apparently they're the new suffragettes.
Jesus wept.
#RespectMySex is trending on Twitter, which somone said sounds a George Michael B-side.
Although the best response to this I have seen is "Women can have as many penises as they want".

Exactly this - his wife is covered under the Ministerial Code and he needs to answer questions not stick his thumb in his mouth and say he is not playing.
The gloss has fallen off Rushi faster than the needles on a cheap xmas tree and he is now recognised as a wee entitled prick of a man in short trousers. He is no better than the rest of the fuckwits in the tory party and indeed is even worse than most. I strongly suspect he and the Blonde Bumblecunt will end up rowing backwards at a great rate of nots over the summer as the impact of the cost of living increases and the real term cuts in benefits and pensions leads to a huge social disaster of epic proportions with folk being evicted, huge health deterioration and foodbanks being overrun. We are one of the wealthiest countries in the world for fecks sake and should at the very least be able to ensure everyone has at least a safe place to live, heat and food. There will be riots on the streets on par with the poll tax riots before long.

Eat out to Help Out - this doesn't look very good for the wee shite Rishi! When the top Civil Servant is asking the Chancellor for written instruction to implement a policy then you know it is shit and they are preparing for the inevitable questions about why it was done - it is their defence in advance. Doesn't look like Rishi is such a clever little tosspot that the Tories think he is, in fact he is becoming very very careless with £billions of taxpayers money to say the least. This is going to go further methinks!

It's pretty shocking how little this government is doing on the cost of living crisis.
But the excuses for it are particularly lame. 'We need to support businesses for investment, keep the economy growing, boost wages'
Many businesses will be struggling with the energy and logistics costs as well, and even more will struggle with the lower disposable income of their customers. This in turn damages the economy, with more businesses at risk (especially if they've used up reserves during Covid times) and most affected businesses and organisations will struggle to afford pay increases going forward.
And despite there being some pay increases over the last year, they are still outstretched by the inflation.
But Rishi's millions and his wife's billions are safe, so he's not fussed. And by the time of the elections he'll throw us all a measly bone, to keep the peasants engaged. Boris has gone very quiet on the whole situation, probably too busy hiding the full Sue Gray report.
What a shite way to run a country.

The 'pipe cleaner of lard' going full on Tory shite today on LBC radio. He really is the most objectionable of people. On one clip he tried to explain the PM and No10 partygate behaviours on the Covid rules and regulations being too strict and no-one could have been expected to adhere to the rules! He complains that his own Gov make the rules then can't stick to them because they are too strict - this has gone full rabid bullshit now. How people vote for these cnuts is beyond me, its almost like they enjoy being kicked in the balls when they are lying starving and freezing on the ground.
PS He didnt identify one single true Brexit benefit - just more anti EU bullshit lies and half truths.

No matter how low the bar is they still manage to limbo under it. Using Ukraine to dismiss the Partygate stuff is pretty fucking low, he and others were downplaying it long before the war was happening. Regardless, whether or not our ruling politicians obeyed laws they insisted others follow seems pretty integral to the function of democracy in this country. What can be more important than maintaining a principle that laws apply to citizens equally regardless of status?
Deny, deflect and never, under any circumstances, accept even a vestige of responsibility seems to be all that's required now to circumvent regulations and law for those in power. It appears that everything governing them was convention and good faith rather than anything tangible.

What would make 35% of respondents say they were going to vote for this party?

This is an absolutely terrible incarnation of the Tory party but the alternative is a Labour party that is quite far removed from its traditional constituency.

That doesn't explain the 35%. There aren't many "traditional" Labour types who would vote for this Tory party whose brains haven't been poisoned by Brexit and culture war shit, which would put them at odds with traditional Labour anyway.

Don't disagree that there is a solid hard core who will hanker back to the glory days of the empire, WW2 and the 1960's but there will be enough who will be hit hard and will change their votes,I suspect there will be enough to get these wankstains out of government.
