Fuck it, someone throw Raskin a bucket of cash and get him up there...
Raskin impresses me more than Mayor Pete when I see him. The latter can sometimes seem a bit smug (and rightly so when owning Rep idiots; Newsom a bit Trumplike in his ‘slickness’) but Raskin seems incredibly confident, too, yet entirely likeable to a broader audience.
Raskin isn’t known enough from the general population, and this is a big problem at about 4 months from the elections, he was my US Representative when I lived in Montgomery co., now is my state senator and doing a good job.
Newsom will be the best bet right now to beat DT but he doesn’t feat in with the old democratic party leaders.
It’s a shame that actual eloquent speaking statespeople don’t seem to be thrust to the top. (Similar here in Canada these days!)

I watched a bunch from Colorado news anchor Kyle Clark taking Boebert and other wannabes to the mat with hard questions and live fact checking. I wasn’t surprised to hear that she was still the frontrunner as the six or so candidates all looked unprepared ambitious-without-qualifications MAGA weirdos.

As others have said in the socials, imagine him moderating last night!

I believe CNN specifically said they wouldn't fact check.
Yeah, their new leadership is actively courting disaffected fox viewers

In better news, Steve Bannon lost his last appeal to stay out of prison. Goes to jail Monday.

Perhaps we are overestimating the importance of debates for people outside the political sphere

From Andy Borowitz
There are some compelling arguments for replacing Joe with Hunter. You could still use BIDEN ‘24 campaign regalia. He’s a generation younger. And the fact that he’s a convicted felon could attract Republican voters.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court keeps rolling out the (s)hits, with three decisions that do away with the Chevron defence (Courts must defer to experts from federal agencies, effectively transferring huge gobs of power grom the executive to the judiciary), allowing cities to enforce bans on rough sleeping and to weaken the federal obstruction statute (used to charge the J6 traitors).

The long game is playing off for the reactionary faction.

The Democrats have to pull Biden now on the grounds of mental incapacity.

Or just make sure that everything is done between 9am and 5pm. Completely different the next day, and the last minute and a half is quite stirring.

Has to be better than Trump's 11:00am to 5:00pm.

Yeah. I was thinking "2 mental candidates, but for different reasons".

Easier to make rehearsed speech than think on the fly in a debate. My dad has vascular dementia. He can still tie his laces but reasoned debate isn't a strong point.

I can't remember who it was but a former senior WH staffer commented that the President is never required to come up with a coherent response to anything in a mere 2 minutes. He takes advice from experts and staff members, then considers that advice before reaching a decision.

Alan Lichtman, yeah, the bloke who has predicted 9 out of the last 10 elections, disagrees with the calls for Biden to step down.

TBF, one tipster out of 000s getting a 9/10 record in in a 2 horse race isn't exactly proof that he is the font of all wisdom.

Pardon my ignorance, but this whole story about President Biden's supposed health problems got me thinking:

In the unlikely event of Pres. Biden becoming unfit to fulfil his duties as president until the end of his term, Vice-President Harris will take over as President, right?

But part of pres. Biden's duties is to fight the 2024 elections as Democrat nominee. In the unlikely event of him not being able to perform this task, surely his running mate (VP Harris) should, just as above, have to stand in for president Biden?

Surely they cant now suddenly bypass the 2nd in charge and nominate another candidate? I'll be super pissed if I were her.

Or, President Biden completes his current term, win the elections, and a day after his inauguration he has to step down, this making VP Harris the POTUS?

It's not his presidential duty, but his duty as Democrat nominee to contest the election. Harris doesn't automatically become the Democrat nominee if Biden is incapacitated.

Biden is also not yet officially the nominee, so in theory the delegates could vote for someone else to be the nominee

On a happier note; the rotting corpse formerly known as Steve Bannon gets banged up today

I hope someone throws him off the top landing onto a big pile of mattresses ....... that's on fire.

Supreme Court ruling today - does that mean a sitting President can openly accept a payment (bribe) to pardon a crim and be immune from any prosecution?

Or would the lower courts deem that the pardon was a presidential act and therefore immune, but accepting the money was a criminal act?

I'm not sure when this is from, but I can see why they brought it back...

The Biden team used an unconventional method to carry out the assassination – an actor posing as Vladimir Putin was hired to tell Trump that he doesn’t like him. Trump immediately died of sadness.

Finally got around to watching some of the footage of the debate. The bit where Biden said something about Medicaid then lost his train of thought, pretty alarming tbh.

Thankfully the early polling shows that Bidens poor performance was balanced out by the stream of lies from the traitor, so it appears that Bidens age is baked in with the Electorate.

I still have an uneasy feeling in the pit of my stomach, because while polling day is still months away, a slip closer to the date could be devastating.

Saaaay whaaaat?
Trump:

“Somebody said he looks great in a bathing suit, right? And you know, when he was in the sand and he was having a hard time lifting his feet through the sand, because you know sand is heavy, they figured three solid ounces per foot, but sand is a little heavy, and he’s sitting in a bathing suit. Look, at 81, do you remember Cary Grant? How good was Cary Grant, right? I don’t think Cary Grant, he was good. I don’t know what happened to movie stars today. We used to have Cary Grant and Clark Gable and all these people. Today we have, I won’t say names, because I don’t need enemies. I don’t need enemies. I got enough enemies. But Cary Grant was, like – Michael Jackson once told me, ‘The most handsome man, Trump, in the world.’ ‘Who?’ ‘Cary Grant.’ Well, we don’t have that any more, but Cary Grant at 81 or 82, going on 100. This guy, he’s 81, going on 100. Cary Grant wouldn’t look too good in a bathing suit, either. And he was pretty good-looking, right?”
