Well according to Farage it's all the liberal media and Jo Brand's fault. That's it then, no need for further inquiry. Oh and also God saved him according to the man himself...
Seriously, the Secret Service and Police will have some very difficult questions to answer going by early reports and claims that they were alerted to the presence of a possible shooter before shots were fired. Hindsight is always 20/20 of course but even if security overall is not as tight as for the President himself, and they had made checks on the area surrounding the rally and cleared it, in these days of cheap but good quality surveillance drones one or two of those of those making camera sweeps back to a monitor would surely have been helpful and provided early warning and maybe deterred the shooter?
The failings here are only going to fuel the notion of "deep state" involvement, even if the simple answer that the USA has too many batshit mental cases with easy access to high power weaponry.
It must be hardest to continually scan for potential trouble in a crowd (can think of a few people shot by someone who walked right up), but seems like the easiest thing to do with so many Secret Service, security, and police is have one set of eyes on every high point. Can’t have been many in an open location like that. Huge after-action review coming up for that team.
Particularly as it was the closest vantage point to the platform, other than the small building to the immediate right of Trump's podium.
Quite amazing, really, to photo shop out the US Flag.
They didn’t photoshop it out. There’s a bit of it showing. They cropped it or used a different one than the portrait shot where it features prominently. Assuming the flag was blowing around a bit.

One would suggest that even though it's uncomfy to set foot outside your approved media bubbles you should have a look at all sides covering this.
The witness reports of a person on a barn roof with a rifle being pointed out to local police, on two occassions and the authorities not doing anything until the firing started is really rather interesting.
But obviously that could be a "conspiracy theory" and those people are just deep state plants wanting to stop fascist Hitlertrump.

I’d still be a bit surprised if Trump carries on.
He has absolutely no ideology to spur him on, it’s just a pure play for power. So when he calms down and realises he came close to being killed which would stop him playing golf and shagging porn stars he may well just pack it in

Yeah, but he knows he'll now only be making public appearances behind bulletproof glass, & ranks of secret service agents, & the prize for keeping in the race is millions in donations, & getting rid of all those pesky felony cases.
He probably doesn't even need to make any more public appearances to win at this point

Well I now have more information now, & with the scumbags the traitor surrounds himself with, can you really blame me for wondering ?

The guy literally had a bullet tear off the top of his ear and was fist pumping less than a minute later. That is not typical behavior for someone who is around a shooting (trust me), let alone being the target AND actually getting shot. I’ll be honest, I didn’t think he had it in him.
Why does anybody think he hasn’t been expecting this for years though? This is what untold millions of “normal” people have been wanting for nearly a decade now (as the comments in this thread plainly demonstrate). If anything I’m astonished it took this long.
Credit to you for being the only person to show an actual normal person’s response in being glad he was okay, by the way.

Might say more later, might not.
It wasn't the bullet that hit him, it's suspected to be glass from the teleprompter.
He brings his hand to his ear/cap. Then when he stands you see the small amount of blood. Head wounds bleed like a bitch, this is no more than a scratch, I'd be surprised if it needed stitches, unless they need to remove the glass by cutting a bit more.
Lol, he's a scummy American celeb supported by scummy Americans, I'm not sure why a normal non-yank should really care beyond the obvious negative political implications if the assassination was successful.
Snipers set up on roof to the right of Trump reacting. Seems to be looking at them a lot but that's just the angle.
Right...?

On the first bit, is t the story that he was fumbling around looking for his shoe and the SS guys pushed his arm up and ordered him to start pumping? I’ve no idea what people do after they have been shot/shot at, a lot of adrenaline pumping I’d imagine

Yeah, "normal" reactions are concern over what this sparks, and less about trump's health from quite a proportion of people. Trump is a weapons grade cunt and sexual abuser who has caused genuine misery to a large number of people. Concern for his health is an individual choice and there's no reason to expect it by default.

Plus he believes the presidency will keep him out of jail. That said, might his lawyers now have a case to say any sentence he's given will put his life at risk from prisoners (even in white collar prison)?

Shocking to have two clearly senile candidates. Though with very different symptoms. I don't really listen to them much at all since the last election but the decline is noticeable in both but biden more.

While the Secret Service do have questions to answer, looking at the layout of the rally, & the position where the attacker set himself up, the traitor might have set himself up by being his usual cheap SOB self !
Remember a couple of weeks ago when he had a rally in Las Vegas, & his supporters were passing out in the heat ?; well one of the commentators I check out on YouTube made the point that if he wasn't such a cheap SOB he would have rented an indoor arena for his fairly small audience, same as the rallies he had in NY & NJ; they all could have been comfortably held inside indoor arenas, which would have been much easier to secure, with magnetometers at every entrance, but the cheap bastard preferred keep the money & let his supporters pass out in the heat.
What are the odds he doesn't do another outdoor appearance from now to polling day ?

I'm not sure that other than on the short term, his death would have changed much. Trump is an exceptional agent of chaos, more mendacious, corrupt, demagogic and bonkers than anyone else capable of getting nationwide support right now. But as a country America is manifestly incapable of addressing root problems, of which Trump and MAGA world are one expression among many, and he has already done significant damage, institutional and cultural, that will be hard to undo regardless of whether he's still around.
Indeed, had Trump been killed, the GOP would have quickly slid in someone equally happy to carry on his good work, but not tarred with the associations that put the Sensible Republicans off Trump.

The classified documents case has apparently been thrown out.
"The Court is convinced that Special Counsel’s Smith’s prosecution of this action breaches two structural cornerstones of our constitutional scheme—the role of Congress in the appointment of constitutional officers, and the role of Congress in authorizing expenditures by law,” Cannon concluded in her 93-page order.
Not that it has any bearing whatsoever, I'm sure, but Judge Aileen Cannon was appointed in Florida by Donald Trump.

Be surprised if the DoJ doesn't appeal the decision before the end of the day.

Yep, most US news that I've seen have all said that an appeal is pretty much guaranteed, and most queried the logic - even if not the disingenuity - of the judge.
At least it'll delay everything until after the election, which is nice. Purely coincidental.
