If Wyn Jones hadn't been pulled back when Fagerson arrived, he'd have smashed him directly in the head rather than clipping his face.

I had an argument with a pro player during the week about the POM thing and judging by the commentators just now it does seem like the players and recent players all seem to think "that's how they're told to clean people out" is justification.

"He has to do it or they might steal the ball" is such bizarre justification. We don't justify high tackles because players might get past them.

Warburton: "What else is he supposed to do? What if they're mean to him in the Monday morning review for not preventing the turnover?"

Players and coaches need to start buying into the idea that letting the opposition nick the ball isn't worth hitting each other in the head over.

Doesn’t help when players from 5-10 years ago have the mic on International TV.

Some of them manage to move with the times, but there are definitely too many who don't and basically go with 'we used to be able to do that'.

10 years is being kind to a lot of the BBC panel!

The risk matrix of ‘oppo get the ball’ vs ‘oppo play vs 14 men’ hasn’t been properly assessed by most pros yet. I assume they will at some point

Well then players should stop launching at heads. Scotland have absolutely nobody to blame apart from Zander Fagerson. And Gary Graham who was as bad as you'll ever see.
