Actually a few positives to take out of the game, tough with all the injuries on either side.

Thought JldP deserved a card for reckless clearout, but don't think more important to result than Esterhuizen going off in the first place. Lost so much D shape. Venter is a waste of space I think.

Happened again yesterday. Ali had Koch in a knot. Was great to see Fat Frans technic against Ox. The second shaft from the Stormers floored him. Dreyer is just a penalty machine. Even the lady ref saw him losing bind.

He is TH. That's where they go if they have to much power for the LH. As long as he keep his bind.

Moerat is actually a good scrummer. Venter threw water melons. JJ Kotze brought stability and our line out and scrums dominate. That last lineout drive from the 22 was something of a beaut.

Got a tough run in from here though, still to go to Ireland twice, got Munster, Sharks and Lions at home and finish up the regular season in SA.

They are not a good side.

The penalties were going the wrong way. Anyway. Officials have admitted to making big mistakes that benefitted the Stormers. Which doesn't help us now.

Sharks scrum is simply not good. Has some good days at full strength, but weak/poorly coached for ages. Same with maul defense. Can't complain about pens if we don't get set-up right.

Leinster with so many OH options they can afford to let Harry Byrne go to Bristol on a 3 month loan, while AJ McGinty is injured

He should have taken the Connacht offer over the summer.

Odd business considering that he has only just signed a Leinster contract.

Yeah, the IRFU have to do a better job of dividing the loaves & fishes between the Provinces.

Harry picking up splinters in his arse in Leinster while Billy Burns is starting in Munster makes zero sense !!

The sad thing is that due to lack of game time, we don't know if he's better than Billy Burns. He might actually be worse.

Going to have to be a serious rethink but the first part is that Ulster and Munster need to get their development sorted.
I exclude Connacht from that for the moment but depending on private schools to develop players for the entire country is fraught with risks.

Yeah, outside of Leinster there needs to be a network of clubs, with the Province providing coaching training, & having a network of scouts to make sure that any players that show talent get extra coaching, or fast tracked to the Province, or a scholarship to one of the schools, which is pretty much how it works in Leinster.

In fairness, considering their size, Connacht have been doing a damned sight better than either Munster or Ulster at developing Indigenous players!

I think the IRFU really need to define development structures and force them onto the provinces. I think I'm right in saying that Evan O'Connell is the first Limerick forward to come through since Damian Varley (who RETIRED ten years ago). I don't care how successful Hurling is (or how brilliant the Leinster Schools are), that is a catastrophic failure and heads need to roll for it!

The fact O'Connell is imbued with Ligind doesn't fill me with confidence that he would have come through if he had a different name!

Watched some of the Cardiff v Ospreys and Scarlets v Dragons matches yesterday.
Bloody hell, no wonder Welsh rugby is in a mess!!!
The first match was dreadful though at least in the second match Scarlets played some attractive attacking rugby and in Tom Rogers had the best player on view all afternoon
I have no idea just how the Dragons manage to survive?

He's not moaning, he's making very valid observations that has implications on the Springboks. Our Bok players are getting flogged at the moment and we will pay the price.

He does offer a solution, if you read the article. A proper pre-season. But that is difficult given the global calendar but I don't see any other long-term solution.
