Yep. We just lost the most important job in Europe, for Ireland; to appease the mob.

Now Ireland will have a massively reduced influence over what kind of, & how fast we can put together a Trade deal after the Hard Brexit happens; & the same wankers in the mob will be bitching about the inevitable consequences we see then.
Not that I don't see your point here, but would it have been too much to ask for Hogan to have enough cop on to just not go to the golf dinner? I know he probably couldn't have had any idea how it would blow up, but still.
It's very clear that they didn't believe/weren't aware they were breaching the guidelines. Apologies should have sufficed.

Give it up lads. The Shinners are Teflon. There are about 10 journos in this country who have decided the agenda and that is it. They are doing this because they are bitter, Fionnan; the patriarchal feminist social left agenda something something bollox, Kitty/Una/New bird Naomi. It's an unstoppable freight train of bullshit and the best thing to do is get lost in podcasts and rugby and wake up someday to Minister Cullinan explaining why all lessons will be through Irish except Irish

Highly unlikely for an/any Irish replacement to be given that plum portfolio. Strange days when Brexiteers and Shinners are giggling happily.

VDL has done herself no favours either. Her attempt to assert credibility has shat all over the independence of the EU Commission from domestic oversight.

Fcuk chaos. It’s overrated.

I’m reminded in rugby terms of just how much the French pissed themselves laughing at us when the IRFU decided to take the moral high ground and bin The Claw for doing unto the French what the French had spend decades doing unto everyone who pulled on an oppo jersey. We are a useless sanctimonious holier than thou shower of shit at times. Hogan was a gobshite. What has followed is out of all proportion to a gobshite being a gobshite.

Lets start a campaign for Daniel O’Donnell to be the new Trade Commissioner. If that’s ok with everyone else, that is. That meek enough for everyone???

Your Trade Commissioner needs to be a player, not a frigging compliance officer.

well with Barnier doing the trade deals with UK, the trade commissioner seems to be mainly doing negotiations with Australia, USA and South American countries.

Who will the EU Council choose? Who will we put forward?

Look the writing was on the wall years ago. We should have paid more attention to Ming and all the other twats getting elected. I remember Ming shiteing on about parish pump this and parish pump that when he was regularly trotted out as he had a funny beard and what did he do when he got elected: parish pumped the fück out of it with zero come back from the media. I knew it was problematic I just didn't realise how stupid people are. The Indos laid the path for the Trots and the Shinners and we just waved them in

We ain't getting that unless a deal was struck which I doubt. It's too big a commission for us to get a second bite of the cherry

Coveney being mentioned as a possible replacement, and if we send a politician of that calibre, all is possible.

Alas Cammy there is nothing the government could do. This is culture wars. People are entrenched. You’re talking about people who basically won the life lotto by being in Ireland and they think they have it worse than Yemen.

Complete diversion. Watching Jurrasic Park with the kids. And along with a number of kids movies from my teen/early adulthood that I've watched with them recently what's stood out is the slow build up. An hour in before anything 'happens' which seems to be a stark contrast to modern movie making. Did this happen slowly or what? And am I being old and curmudgeonly to bemoan no major setup for modern movies? Or at the very least there has to be a big action scene in the first act.

Or am I just imagining it?

I think you're imagining it. Movies of the '70s and '80s often had an action sequence to open (Star Wars, Godfather 2, Bullitt, Dirty Harry, .....).

I didn't see Peter Jackson's King Kong, but apparently it took them forever to bring Kong into it. Jack Black said something in an interview during filming about how "NOBODY has seen the monkey!" Pacing of a film is a unique thing to each film, some burn slowly and some start off with a bang.

If there has been a change in pace, you can probably blame, say, Tarantino for jumbling the order of events to put the exciting part at the start.

Would love some more detail on the hospital admissions. ICU is pretty much at its lowest, which is great. So are the hospital admissions observation/precautionary? We've had a fair few over the last week or two but no lengthy stays.

I imagine it is precautionary when patients develop any sort of chest problem.

Ok, I'll buy dangling a bit of action isn't new but there's way more substance/interesting dialogue in the older movies. I guess it's primarily down to it being easier to film realistic action scenes for the most part.
