Good to see that the Lions will have some really serious opposition this week. The games so far have seriously flattered some of our players - this will be a proper wake up call.
I am surprised the BILs did not start their best side

Is this match an official test? I.e. will players earn caps for it?

They probably weren’t sent the Memo from Rassie about giving his test side another warm up game

That's a shame. Would have been a great opportunity to celebrate our third black captain.

I've heard he won't be ready. One of a couple of players with symptoms.

Siya, Frans Steyn and Handre Pollard might make it. There are some guys you know you can just slot into the team and some guys who take a little bit longer to get their engines going and be ready for a game.”
Erasmus said he expected them to be among a group of players expected back in the Springbok camp next week, just days before the first test at the Cape Town Stadium on 24 July.
The Boks have had a total of 14 players who tested positive for the novel coronavirus, plus six management members, including coach Jacques Nienaber, who will return to the camp on Wednesday, Erasmus added.
Some have already returned from isolation, like wing S’bu Nkosi and prop Vincent Koch, both named to play for South Africa A against the Lions in Cape Town on Wednesday.
The Covid-19 outbreak led to the cancellation of last Friday’s test against Georgia and a week cloistered in their hotel rooms in Johannesburg before returning to training on Sunday.
Erasmus also added there was an outside chance of No 8 Duane Vermeulen being available for the third test. He had surgery on an ankle injury last month.
"Duane is maybe in the mix for the last test, but we are not banking on that," he said.

from sa rugby mag:
Several players are still completing their return-to-play safety protocols after testing positive for Covid-19, with captain Siya Kolisi, for example, facing a race against time to be cleared for selection for the first Test after a lengthy period of isolation.
However, someone like Handre Pollard could be able to return to training later this week and potentially bank some more game time in another SA A game.
This website has now learned that a match against the Bulls has been lined up in order to afford the Springboks the essential benefit of some more match preparation.

I actually thought the side you have been playing is the best you have. Getting extra time together as a team. Without informing Springbok management

SA A to play vs Bulls on saturday.
Iol.co.za
It is expected that the Bulls will take on SA A in a ‘curtain-raiser’ to the WP-Lions match on Saturday afternoon at Cape Town Stadium, with the kickoff time to be confirmed.
Organising such a fixture might come just in time for the likes of captain Siya Kolisi, Handre Pollard, Makazole Mapimpi, Bongi Mbonambi, Frans Malherbe, Frans Steyn, Marvin Orie, Ox Nche, Dan du Preez and Scarra Ntubeni, who were not considered for the SA A-Lions game due to Covid-19 protocols.

Game day.
Thinking about the tour so far, we really really need this match to be good. It can save what has otherwise been a sad state of affairs.
