Nah, Jessie Kriel and Ellendig will start.

Well, it was genuinely the worst performance I've ever seen from an NZ team - never seen them mess up so many basics, and SA spent over half the game playing against 14.
The Boks made them do that. Just like Nelspruit last year was also the worst ever All Black performance. Funny how they've suddenly started having their worst ever performances against the Boks.

I seem to be in a bit of a minority that wasn't actually all that impressed with SA on Friday night. I still think you will end up squeezing the life out of us but I'm not any more, or less, excited because of that game. "Scotland erupting into playing the sexiest rugby known to man at some point" will make us winners to any but the most hardened Boer anyway.
If Scotland's plan is running the ball, and I think it is, then the Boks have all the tools to stop that. You can then say it was the worst ever Scotland performance.
could not agree more with both these points
NZ showed exactly how not to play against SA, imo. I'm not sure we have the kicking game in our likely back three to do much different tho, tbh.

Funny how a losing team is all of a sudden written off as shithouse and therefore the winning team must be slightly less shithouse.
Nothing gets said about the pressure the winning team put them under to make them lose.
I do find the whole "NZ only had 14 men" thing that's emerged since Friday kinda weird. Especially given the nature of the 'red' (half of it for an accumulation of team penalties...).

A bit touchy there old boy. Didn't NZ hump you a few weeks ago? Kind of suggests they don't always have bad performances against you.
If you think losing to SA in a couple of weeks will make it into the "worst ever Scotland performance" category, you've obviously never had the pleasure of supporting Scotland.
So your explanation of recent All Black v Bok matches is the ABs "humped" the Boks then had their worst ever match, and "something something hardened Boers". You seem somewhat biased against the Boks.
If this Bok side is able to fully put the hammer down on Scotland, then the only way you'll be able to make sense of it is "I don't understand what has happened, this is the worst ever Scotland performance".
Playing in the URC makes a good Bok performance more likely. Our SA based players go to Glasgow and Edinburgh our coaches watch those matches, the players and coaches will give your team more respect (and mean it) than you're giving the Boks on this thread. In the past Scotland was an exotic thing the Boks played every second year or so and usually in Scotland, you weren't on our radar much and could be underestimated. But our provinces have lost to Scottish sides so it's different now, some of the selected players will have lost to Scottish teams.
The results against Wales and the ABs were about the Boks respecting those sides as much as anything else.
Not like you to be so emotional instead of reasonable, Os. Every fool know the Boks can only beat the ABs when the ABs play like shit.

I think Biffer want them to play the speedy All Blacks pattern. If you want to beat the Boks, you need to match them up front and force them to box kick, giving possession back.

When will the team be announced, wednesday?! Will be interesting to see what they are going to do. The conservative approach with Mapimpi, DDA, Kriel, Kolbe, Willie starting or the young guns Moodie, AE , KLA, Willemse. Can't wait for Sunday.

Kolbe on the left, Moodie marking
The Poach on the right wing. Dumb putting 2 midgets up against Scotland.

I'll accept the Boerewors approach to this test. Our two pack of forwards is set in stone, never mind who start and who bomb. But the backline need fresh faces.

Game is on Sunday, right? Wouldn't expect the teams to be announced until Friday. Scottish team pretty much picks itself. Slight question mark on Darcy Graham's fitness but if he's out The Bodyguard's Son is an able and in-form replacement. Most interesting bit is to see who'll get picked in the 16-23 slots.

select only backs to run around the 7-1 and never drop the ball
3 scrum halfs/ves on pitch at all times

I think we'll need a 5/3 bench. Scotland will try and run us. The weather is still hot.

It's a nervy one , this weekend. I have seen loads of Kolbe on social media the last few days so suspect he will start. Seen quite a bit on Willie too.
Those are normally indicators for me. When the press starts building up certain players.
I am so excited about this RWC....I am going to be eating humble pie over Rassnabber, I hope. Like it was explained after the NZ match. Everything fell into place for the boks that match. It's not going to happen every game. The othee teams have analyzed the boks extensively.
All we can hope for is 7 more good matches

This is no friendly gentlemen. This is a defining match. Lose this game and it's very difficult going forward and the possibility of elimination in the group stages. This is war.
Fight and you may die. Run and you'll live, at least a while. And dying in your beds many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance, just one chance to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they'll never take our freedom!.....

Interesting team. I didn't expect to see Kock and Hendrikse there.
I also suspected KLA had done enough to unseat Mapimpi.
Well done on Moody for forcing his way into the starting lineup. What a journey

Yep, he looks to have a very bright future.
Expected to see Esterhuizen at 12, but he's not even in the 23. Is he injured?

Our coaches are obsessed with Damien de Allende.
And a 6-2 split doesn't allow for backline players who only play one position (even though he can play 10).

Don't think AE is injured. Maybe the coaches just want to see how Moodie pairs with DDA?
Could also be that the coaches think the backline without Faf, Polly and Willie is a little light on experience and wanted to drop in an old hand to settle things down. I don't know DDA, but I've never considered him to be a team leader. He does have 73 tests hunder his belt though, so he is by far the most experienced starting back. Could be that DDA was selected primarily for a leadership role in a pretty green backline (by recent Springbok standards).

Happy with the team, except for a little disappointment with DDA selection. Esterhuizen has been in very good form lately. And if you are going to pick Moody at 13, then go with what worked before and give Esterhuizen another go too. Interesting that Frans is going to start from the bench, showing a bit of intent there?
