Hasselhoff literally has an iconic image of him singing on the Berlin Wall as it came down. That's pretty iconic right?

He honestly believes it was his song looking for freedom that made the people of the GDR start their peaceful revolution to bring down the wall. He surely has to be an icon. Music and politics.

Oh don't get me wrong - The Hoff is pure mainline cringe - but him in his glowing coat singing his song is pretty iconic. Very different to the kind of icon that we all assume the OP means - but it is a form of iconic.
