I actually enjoyed that post. Well played.
Saffers Playing Abroad Thread
Does this BLM thing have a sell-by date? Why the hell is it done before every single match every week? I thought it was a once off thing but no..... Overkill much?
Well I was thinking along the lines of playing for England one day but the white rose will probably be a racist, colonial emblem
RG Snyman lasted 7 minutes for Munster in his debut. Stole a lineout but his lifters decided to piss off and let him fall to the ground and injure his knee. Didn't watch long after that so not sure how Duh Allende got on.
Rob du Preez scored a great try against Exeter but Sale fell apart in the second half.
Nic Groom and Jaco van der Walt had very good games for Edinburgh to beat Glasgow. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if Scotland look to cap Jaco as backup to Hastings.

Jaco is underrated.. Lots of potential that lad.assfly wrote: ↑Mon Aug 24, 2020 7:29 am RG Snyman lasted 7 minutes for Munster in his debut. We'll see what the real Shark players will do. A lot of cock suckers in that lot.
You have seen what the 2020 champions can do. Your players knelt down and felt the full force of their mightOomStruisbaai wrote: ↑Tue Aug 25, 2020 9:13 amWe'll see what the real Shark players will do. A lot of cock suckers in that lot.

In a different time I think he would be a 50 cap Bok. He's such a natural 13.Big Nipper wrote: ↑Thu Aug 27, 2020 7:42 am Glad to hear Venter is finding form again, wish he had moved to one of the SA franchises after the Cheetahs got the boot from Soup

Indeed. Has a great step and accelerates so well, like Jaque Fourieassfly wrote: ↑Thu Aug 27, 2020 7:44 amIn a different time I think he would be a 50 cap Bok. I'm a big fan of Venter, such a natural centre, but let's not compare him to Jaque Fourie. I would not argue that an on-form Venter is a great addition to the Bok squad tho.Big Nipper wrote: ↑Thu Aug 27, 2020 7:49 amIndeed. Slight sidenote, lot's of young centres at the Bulls, excited to see what White can do with them.

Really had a bad shake in SA. Tons of talent, but just never got the right chance in the right team at the right time.assfly wrote: ↑Thu Aug 27, 2020 7:44 amIn a different time I think he would be a 50 cap Bok. Bad run on his debut EOYT where a decent Bok team lost to England, Italy and Wales in a row.
The more I watch these types of players abroad, the more I think a NH Bok team would work, especially given current scheduling mayhem.
We've always had the talent and the player pool, we just lack the coaching structures to make the most of it.
Even now, when Rassie stepped down, there wasn't a clear succession plan. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad Nienaber is getting a shot. He seems to have a good relationship with Rassie and the squad, but we really are throwing him into the deep end. When it comes to top level coaches in South Africa, the cupboard is pretty empty.
If Nienaber's tenure is a flop and Rassie can't step back in, who is next in line?
Ackermann? Du Preez or Dobson? Big fan of 2007 Jake White, but don't think I'd want him back. There really are few if any real contenders with a decent track record.
I definitely think we can make a Europe Based Bok team work is terms of sheer manpower we have up there, but can the coaches make it work and get them to gel as a team? I'm skeptical.
But we have to figure it out, because that is going to be the future of SA rugby IMO. Give the coaches as many options as possible and be flexible around players' other family life, contacts, commitments and injury rehab.
True. We'd probably have to have someone who is based there, but not coaching full time in the premiership.Blake wrote: ↑Fri Aug 28, 2020 1:21 pm We've always had the talent and the player pool, we just lack the coaching structures to make the most of it.

Ah what the hell, here is my stab at a team (based on the games I've seen, no French based players)
1. Francois van Wyk
2. Akker / Franco Marais
3. Vincent Koch
4. Lood / RG Snyman (injured)
5. Jannes Kirsten
6. Marcel Coetzee / Ruan Ackerman / Chris Cloete
7. JL du Preez / Jacques Vermulen
8. Dan du Preez / Hanro Liebenberg
9. Faf / Hoohaa
10. Jaco van der Walt
11. Duhan van der Merwe
12. Damien de Allende
13. Francois Venter
14.
15. Louis Ludik
Definitely. Van Der Walt will likely be capped this year too. Pierre Schoeman next Autumn.
And are there two g’s in Bugger Off?
Some good players, but doesn't have the makings of a good team.assfly wrote: ↑Fri Aug 28, 2020 2:03 pm 1. Francois van Wyk

Might have to look at French players as well. There are a ton of them.
The listed team will probably raise some eyebrows from the Ministry of Sport as well.
Getting an European based squad might a trickier proposition than I thought...
I miss Jensra. He was always quite good with things like this.
Looks like Sale's saffers finally woke up as they thumped Bristol to move into 2nd.
Massuve games from Lood, JLdP, Faf, Akker, Coenie.
Rohan JvR put in a bone-crunching tackle when he came off the bench. Him playing next to Tuilagi is quite terrifying.

Thought Saffer brought the worst out of Sards. Now he is even far below what he was
