Teams replaces a lot of clunky functionality well, I will give you that.

Has anyone used Yammer for anything other than an informal recognition tool yet?

We've used it as a formal recognition tool. We've got a guy who's been stuck on a project site in the middle of the Pacific since March because of Covid. Our CEO announced on Yammer yesterday that the guy is getting an all expenses paid holiday from us once (if) the world returns to normal.

Toss in things like Flow, PowerBI, Azure Boards, Forms etc and you have a winner, MS absolutely nailed this product in my view.

Credit card companies.

Was seriously pissed of this week upon getting my latest Mastercard statement.

I pay off my bill every month.

Last month I had £0.60 interest to pay and this month I had £3.18 to pay.

Took a bit of working out what the interest was for.

It turns out using my credit card to buy milk at a vending machine is considered a "cash" purchase.
I bought £5.50 worth of milk last month and that is what triggered the £3.18 interest.

What f'ing kind of USURY is that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

People who make careless errors in important emails contrary to what they actually mean to say.

Had a cracker group email today, 10 minutes out from deadline.

"This is a deadline for a print newspaper, so we can flex it."

CAN'T. Can't flex it.

But I hear you. It's the annual fee that stings me.

Sweet memories.

When I started in IT (data processing as it was), we used Lotus 1-2-3. To train users, we would give them a TV/Video combo and they would work their own way through the course at their own pace. On going back to retrieve the kit from a person who had trained themselves, I enquired as to training and were they OK with using a spreadsheet. I received a reply that floored me .. the course covered the selling of fruit and veg ... and she replied that she really enjoyed it and but did not see how a computer package would help her in her medical sales role as she did not sell fruit and veg.

Things that annoy me include people who slow a team down at a critical point by sending group emails 10 minutes from a deadline. Stupid even if he/she could spell properly.

I use it as well. And I use the alternatives. Teams has mass adoption because ut's bundled into 365. If companies had to pay for it they would be using an alternative.

My client needed to join a teams meeting for the project we were working on ('load shedding meant that he had no power at his office).

I bought my laptop with W10 pre-installed and repartitioned to dual boot with Linux, but I hardly ever use it.

"No problem", I said, "I'll just install Teams and you can use mine".

Fuck me, what a mission...

To be fair given the nature of the work and the location of the contributors, that is the way it had to be done.

That's kind of the point of adopting it though - I've used Slack prior to implementing teams.

He's required to force it, which is what he did.

Use of the passive form instead of the active. According to the BBC there's been a plea for Assange to be released "because he's become a father" as though he had nothing to do with it.
