Is Garbisi injured?
A lot of Italian names in that team!
Yes he is, but he may be available against England
Two Cents rugby did a video about number of foreign born players in each squad and Italy only had 6, however there's several players missing like Ioane, Halafihi, Nemer, Faiva who would be in the squad if available who would bump those numbers up
Big lost for your team, Garbisi was playing very well this season, got injured against Bordeaux.

Do you know why Mori isn’t on the list again?
I think KC just doesn't rate him, mainly because of his poor defending

Thanks, that’s very impressive. I have to say that I think it’s now pretty inevitable that Italy are going to be permanently above Scotland by the end of the decade unless we have some major changes

I'm a bit confused by this, they must be very confident in Capuozzo's fitness not to have included any backup. They can always draft someon in at a later date, but Shirley if you think you might have to call up someone like Gesi or Montemauri (they would be my preferences anyway) you would want to have them in the squad for the full two weeks learning the game plan instead of calling them up last minute
So with the world cup just round the corner, the all knowing FIR have announced that Crowley will be leaving after the world cup and when I say he's leaving, I mean he's been kicked out. Gonzalo Quesada is all but confirmed as his replacement. Quite frankly I find the FIR's behaviour in all this to be absolutely disgraceful. Announcing a new coach prior to a WC has never worked well for us, it didnt in 2007 or 2011. But at least in those cases the outgoing coach didnt want to stick around, not so in this case. Even in the video they put out to make the announcement you have KC talking about how much he loves the team and the players and how he desperately wanted to stay and continue developing the team. But no, the clique at the top of the FIR know what's best. They're honestly turning out to be worse than Gavazzi and his cronies. First Aboud and now Crowley have been forced out despite clearly getting results. Indeed it is now clear that the overly optimistic predictions ahead of the autumn tests and the 6 nations were just to put pressure on the team and the coach to justify the decision to replace him that they had obviously already made. He confounded them with the win over Australia, so they tried the same trick again at the 6 nations, "oh look see, we wanted two wins and he didn't get any....."
Ok rant over, fcuk the FIR and thanks for everything Kieran

Menoncello needs surgery and will miss the world cup
I'm sorry to hear that, it's such a shame when these players miss a career highlight like the World Cup, but he is very young, he'll make the next one.
I don't know why they would organise this to clash with an Italy world cup match but anyway, also happening on Friday is a friendly between Benetton and Zebre, both teams are putting very young teams out:
Benetton
15 Ignacio Mendy
14 Marco Scalabrin
13 Dewi Passarella
12 Filippo Drago (c)
11 Matthias Douglas
10 Tomas Albornoz
9 Lorenzo Casilio
8 Riccardo Favretto
7 Giulio Marini
6 Alessandro Izekor
5 Enrico Pontarini
4 Riccardo Andreoli
3 Giosué Zilocchi
2 Lapo Frangini
1 Destiny Aminu
A disposizione: Mirco Spagnolo, Bautista Bernasconi, Marcos Gallorini, Enzo Avaca, Edoardo Iachizzi, Santiago Ruiz, Nicolò Casilio, Dewaldt Duvenage, Tommaso Simoni.
A disposizione:
16. Nicholas Gasperini (0)
17. Muhamed Hasa (13)
18. Ion Neculai (28)
19. Matteo Canali (0)
20. Bautista Stavile (0)
21. Bradley Henderson (0)
22. Thomas Dominguez (0)
23. Antonio Rizzi (38)
24. Giovanni Montemauri (0)
25. Ben Cambriani (0)

Jake Polledri definately delivering the goods at Gloucester, you have a ready made replacement there for Sergio
Today he announced his retirement aged 28. A couple of weeks ago Matteo Minozzi also announced his retirement aged 27. Both could have been absolute superstars for Italy but have spent the last four years trying to recover from devatating injuries (Matteo nearly lost an eye, Jake was almost paralysed.) However both of their recoveries have been hampered by a seemingly neverending spate of injuries.

A big thankyou and good luck to both of them
That's sad news.
We do ask a lot of these young men for our entertainment.
Edoardo "Ugo" Gori is retiring, he won 69 caps for Italy, including the wins over Scotland in 2015 and South Africa in 2016. He plans on opening an ice cream shop, Howley would be proud

So a few good results and suddenly we have potential poaches queueing up to get on the bandwagon! :D
Seriously though, good to see Zarantonello and Gallagher involved. Also great to see Odiase and Mey in the squad too despite the fact that they haven't had much first team experience yet.

I'd forgotten Gallacher was eligible for Italy - I think he has Italian grandparents.
I was wondering why he was leaving Bath, he's doing well and consistently picked (although De Glanville's injury is a factor) and they're starting to perform as a team. An international cap would explain it.
Good luck to the bloke, he's been solid for Bath and everyone seems to have good words to say about his character.
yes, not only has the FIR appointed a head of poaching, but Pavanello has also been deliberately trying to bring in Italian qualified players to Treviso, Lynagh and Gallagher being high profile examples
5 players + 1 have been cut from the final squad. Montemauri si listed as being "invited" presumably to cover if either Garbisi or Capuozzo are involved in the top14 final and cannot travel
FIR elections were held on the 15th of September and after only one term Marzio Innocenti has been given the boot. Replaced by Andrea Duodo. Despite what this article says, it is not a big surprise. By all accounts his cronyism and interference was even worse than when Gavazzi was in charge. He also got rid of Stephen Aboud which was incredibly stupid.
Let's hope the new guy goes well. He seems to actually have some qualifications beyond "I used to play rugby"
