Good stuff - it's quite an artform and requires huge amounts of patience. I've made a few 'cigar box' guitars - the fretboard/necks took me an age. I've been planning to make a full size electric guitar but haven't quite got around to it yet. But I'll stick to the easier 'solid body' electric guitar.

Loved the anime 'Bocchi The Rock' that finished end of last year, heavily focused on a guitarist and with some great alt!rock songs. Style of music is inspired by Asian Kung Fu Generation.

The main character uses a hand-me-down vintage Gibson Les Paul Custom 'Black Beauty' from ~1960, which is available as a remake as something like $5 000 new!

Seeing real guitarists cover the songs used that were animated "played" by the fictional band is great too.

and one of the actual guitarists involved in the recording of the original songs

Has anyone dabbled with the online learning games?

A mate of mine showed me Rocksmith - and to be honest it looked pretty great. Essentially more about learning muscle memory and getting fingers nimble around the fret board rather than theory etc. But nicely packaged and seems to get results. Mate was pretty average with lead....but now can fairly shred with a bit of pace.

Anyone else had any experience?

OK some pedalboard porn. Not mine I have to add, I only had a couple of cheap units for fuzz, distortion, overdrive before I got a secondhand multi-effects unit which was fun enough, but must be more fulfilling to experiment and create your own sound with a custom setup.
