We have a 40 player squad. Second and third stringers have to be rotated in and out. It's the only way to build depth.

This All Black side really isn't good, their coaching setup hasn't selected/trained/built the right type of forward pack. It's not about not having the players at all, NZ are like us, there's always the players. They've just invested into the wrong strategy and selected to that wrong strategy, I don't think many in our tight five would be selected by this All Blacks setup they don't sprint like wings and distribute like centres so they wouldn't be selected by the All Blacks. So the Boks then have an advantage in all the core tight five areas, in both the XV and bench players. I'm less critical of their backline it's an All Blacks team so any backline they have will always be a threat, but their tactical kicking from hand (planned kicks intended to win territory and be contestable for the turnover) isn't as strong as ours, they seem to be favouring size in the backline but the skill level doesn't seem to be the same standard as it was in the recent past which means they struggle against our defence (contrary to the stereotype it's always been the opposite with the Boks, the Boks always have room for the weedy fast guy that's the most skilful we have).

It's at Ellis Park where even bad Bok teams have a shot, and this is one of the better Boks teams I've seen. When this team plays well they're absolutely uncompromising in how they play the percentages and manufacture point scoring situations.

The vibe in the Bok camp seems really lekker and in the All Black camp the vibe seems terrible. You can see it on the faces of the players. Fans often ignore this aspect but it's just as crucial. This year the Boks have played two crucial must win matches (Wales 3rd test and All Blacks 1st test) and won both, it's the opposite for the All Blacks.

Losing this one would be really disappointing.
Hope you didn't put money on a big Bok win.

I'm disappointed, they shouldn't have lost to this All Blacks side at Ellis Park as well. Tht opening frontrow didn't function, lineout and scrum were poor, I didn't rate Dweba in the Bloem test against Wales or this one, he gave away dumb "leg brake" penalties in both. Once Dweba was taken off the lineout and scrum functioned much better and penalties came from about 30 minutes onwards, but the Boks were 15 points down by then. They were still winning scrum and lineout/maul penalties until the end of the match. Only worry there is the All Blacks did steal two of the Bok throws in the second half.

Ridiculous game from Am, scored a try, got held up on the line, was CMs from setting up another try, got called back on another try he set up.

I'm gatvol about this one, didn't think the Boks played well in the first half at all. Then they had to go to their b game of spreading the ball and running to chase the game, rather than raking in penalties and playing the percentages.

You know me too well. I was going to go in on the Boks winning by 20-30 points, but decided our guys would never take enough risks to do that against the All Blacks, so thought the Boks would win somewhere between 10-20 and closer to 10, no money in that so didn't bet.

100%

We lost it in the first 20-25 mins mostly because of Dweba and then in the last 10 mins because we had to bring our bench on too soon and ran out of puff. That box kick by Jantjies at the death was fucking brainless. I don't think he has situational awareness at all. Also kicked away critical ball at the death last year. I'm fucking sick of that.

Am on the wing was criminal. Credit to him for having the impact he did from there, but him not being at 13 is what caused us to leak so many tries and linebreaks.

Congrats to the All Blacks. By far the better team. The Bok defense was in no rush plus our aerial game don't exist. All Blacks back where they should be.

Well I'm not rating Dweba as a Bok based on the performances we've seen this year, but that starting frontrow generally didn't work. Frans over extended and conceded a penalty early on then changed his boots. 30 minutes in we had blown our primary gameplan of playing the percentages and building the points, and given the change in fortunes at the set piece after bench changes were made and Frans changed his boots, it was our own doing.

Once you're 15 points down and chasing the game against the All Blacks, and being forced into the b game of spreading it and taking risks, it becomes a white knuckle ride at best.

A shit one to lose, up there with the 2005 loss in NZ. Hopefully it doesn't cost us the RC like that one cost us the TN.

It's a significant loss because we get nothing.
2 losses in Australia and we are out.
ABs will grow from this.

Nienaber must go

There were some great passages of play.
The most significant for me were Am and Mapimpi.
Wtf....both had to do it twice to get a try.
The sheer determination of those 2 was the highlight of the match for me.
I am not a fan of moving the whole backline to accommodate Willemse. Rather sub De Allende and let everyone else play in their own position. Duh.
And go back to a 5 3 split please. Loading the bench with forwards just shows you have nothing more than a forward orientated game. Let's see our backline get a chance.

Oh yeah

Nienaber must go

Oh....a brief scan on social media and the majority opinion is that we were done in by the ref.

Here we go again. World Rugby is deliberately targeting us because of our success. So they get the refs to cheat. Us true Rugby lovers are over this now. Please Rassie send them a video

Congratulations ABs, the better team that wanted it more.

As for the Boks, we really fucked that up with our selections.

Duane not match fit.
Horror show from Dweba.
10 awful minutes from Kriel.
Mistake moving Am to the wing.

The chaos of this game has transitioned largely to the scrum. No idea how decisions were reached for either of the last two.

I must admit that the commentators are better than last week, but……..Aussie bias is so, so funny.

Every single game the Aussie's opposition are getting the benefit of refs straight up ignoring the laws apparently.
