BCs so sporting that they don’t review a bat-pad that did hit the pad and then get Jadeja two overs later anyway.

Santner's slower ball has them bamboozled. 9 down now and he has 6 of them.

Meanwhile, Patel is food and drink to the batters

I wonder what odds the TAB were offering on Santner getting 7-for. Write your own ticket would be my guess...

But he was a lot more threatening than I can ever remember seeing from in the past. He kept his pace down, dispensed with the long-hops, and took advantage of the conditions. True, there were some rash shots, but that's what pressure does.

Well supported by his captain I might add.

And I think there was only the one chance put down by Mitchell off Jadeja, who was out soon after anyway. Otherwise the fielding was excellent

It is good to see BCs batsmen taking a positive approach, which is largely negating the danger of India’s spinners.

G'wan the Kiwis.

Meanwhile, England's collection of second rate spinners are throwing away a good position against Pakistan on a wicket that was turning square on day one and keeping extremely low at times. Bashir is simply not up to it.

BCs stretch their lead past 300 at stumps with five wickets left, already going to be a tough target for India. An impressive performance by the lads

England belatedly realise their best bowler isn't a spinner and Atkinson immediately bags the centurion. Daft stuff by Stokes today.

England can't seriously go into the next season (or NZ for that matter) with Crawley and Pope. At least one needs to miss out.

One of them will do a Ben Youngs and pull off a great innings, thus assuring their place for 9 more Tests.

That is what Pope does to be fair.

Averaging 32 this calendar year (33.74 overall) with 3 tons/two 50's and 19/25 innings scoring less that 30.

Crawley has had a pretty decent time of things in the last couple of years, averaged 40 in a horror show tour of India, and can properly frighten teams. He's in no danger.

Pope is hugely frustrating but he's just been captaining the side, can't see him being moved on. He is the weak link, though.

Dude, defeat from the jaws of victory remember :shh:

Reckon they need another 150 odd to ensure they are in the drivers seat. A few Indian batsmen with something to prove, hopefully not in their second dig.

I'd say they need another 50-odd, or better still 100. Batting hasn't looked frighteningly difficult yet.

Crucial will be Phillips learning how to play forward. So far he's got himself into all sorts of trouble trying to play fullish deliveries off the back foot.

Santner gone and we're 340 ahead. Time for Timmy Tonker to get a few more test 6s and get that lead up to 400.

Sharp collapse against Jadeja here, lucky to make a 350 lead now

The pitch is clearly doing a lot more than earlier in the match -- good news for our spin maestros.
