It's not a fun thing to engage with Bimbo for too long.
He's relentless.
I suspect he's "on the spectrum", but has gone undiagnosed.

Indeed.

Yet a whole bunch of posters who seem to despise him, for some reason followed him over once he was banned.

To set him and the world straight, no doubt!
I realise your persona on PR was one of trying to ape the bigger trolls, but you're not really fooling anyone here. Bimbo is by some distance the most prolific poster on PR and has aggravated the vast majority of the board at one point or another. Any diaspora containing a cross-section of PR posters is likely to have people with strong opinions on Bimbo, and his posting style is one of total war on every topic.
To be honest. I’m not hugely proud of my PR persona. But I am liking this new joint.

So I’m just keen to just avoid the hate/shit posting.

For the record I’m not backing bimbo. Just bored to fvck of the hate between your tribe and bimbo tribe.

Which can Fvck right off back to PR IMO.

It was much better over here until that prick wandered over as well after being banned.

But as was noticeable on PR, if you ignore him, he gets bored and wanders away to try to annoy someone else. It's the only reason he does it, so I've got him on ignore now. If I see something egregious I might call him out on his complete ignorance or deliberate misunderstanding of something, but apart from that he can carry on covering himself in his own shit.

Bimbo is a perfect representative of the Boris, Cummings age. The age of the resent'tard, I call it.
I actually find reading his opinions educational.

We have to remember what a crazy world we live in where basically Bill (remember him) won the debate for Britain.

All he believed in, every little crazy narrative he got derided for, all of it is or has come true.

It is just good to get a heads up.
Whatever you can say about Bimbo or Bill, their shit flies.

I'd be surprised if many actually hated him. He's pretty much harmless. But incredibly infuriating because he lacks any ability/will to be objective. As such people either ignore him, prod him, temporarily engage with him only to get annoyed with his lack of ever attempting to see another viewpoint or, rarely, get genuinely angry with him. He's a perfect troll but I'm still not sure if he's a troll. Which just makes it more perfect if he is.

He's intensely frustrating because both here and PR are such good, vital sources of intelligent, rational discourse and information from many good posters and sources. When someone like Bimbo comes in and starts smearing his own shit around the walls in some sort of intellectual dirty protest, it ruins it.

I'd put the %age at about that here in Tottori but there was a case found yesterday of a bloke who went to Tokyo then Hiroshima on business, was not feeling very good on his return, was running a temperature, so what did he do?

Went out to a bar with some friends then to a restaurant. Then his wife told him to get his sorry ass to the public health agency where he was tested and bunged straight in hospital with covid-19.

Yeah. We have some idiots here in Japan alright. On the bus today, there was an old guy who was wearing a mask, but he would pull it down to cough, then put it back up again.

He wiped his mouth with a cloth after one cough, then lay the cloth over the railing in front of him. Then he coughed again, picked the cloth off the rail, wiped his mouth again, put it back.

A tiny minority are this stupid, anywhere in the world, I guess.

Am currently in a hotel in Torquay - about 20% of the normal guest numbers, but still the normal mix of ‘lots of oldies’ from Wales , the midland and the north. Very few of them in masks (not mandatory for guests, just the staff) and they are coughing all over the place.

In Devon , in shops now the wearing masks thing often means people pulling their t shirt uonover their mouth for 30 seconds - surprisingly large number of medical reasons for non wearing either .

My wife went to Waitrose last week and again this week to pick up a few items that didn't come in our delivery. Last week almost no one was wearing a mask (other than her) - this week 100% wearing masks and all wearing them properly. And everyone was following social distancing guidelines as well.

They are not wearing masks in Wales in shops and supermarkets.

Think we only just insisted people wear them in buses.

0 deaths for 4 days in Wales though.
"Here in Wales we know that the transmission of the virus is really at low levels at the moment so the question arises as to why we would introduce such a mandation at this point in time.

Johnson makes face coverings compulsory in England’s shops

As of July 24, it will be mandatory to wear a face covering whilst shopping in England. The Government have announced this fresh move to aid other measures to stop the spread of Covid-19.

"The things that really matter like the social distancing, personal hygiene, having the track and trace in place, and down at the end of the list comes the PPE and face coverings.

"I know everybody gets very excited about the issue of face coverings, but at the moment we don't believe that bar is high enough, the public health hurdle has been passed."

Daft way of looking at it. Unless you can cut yourself off from potential infection, or can be sure there is no infection (not deaths, but cases), then it only makes sense to try and keep it that way, rather than wait for it to come back and introduce a relatively simple measure.

Deaths is a bad way of looking at things now, UK case rates will equate to maybe 10-15 deaths a day, but that's still 10's of thousands infected per week. And if that gets a hold and has a week or two to spread before we get on top of it, we'll be in trouble again. Wales is in a good position, now wear the masks to stay there.

Wiki says:
The death of Llywelyn ap Gruffudd in 1282 led to the conquest of the last independent Welsh kingdom by Edward I of England. The Welsh revolted against English rule several times over the next years, with the last significant attempt being the Glyndŵr Rising of 1400–1415, which briefly restored independence.

I think what also needs to be considered in is that a lot of the most susceptible/weaker patients infected have died in the first wave, those left will be likely better physically equipped to handle the infection so death rates v infections will drop.

Only if a large proportion of them got infected first time round. A huge % of the population hasn't been infected by all accounts; I don't think you can assume the virus just culled the weakest.

Exactly this. A minority of the country has been infected, a very small minority. The suggestion that it included most the at risk patients is daft.

And even if it did somehow achieve this, what about all the adults it can still kill, or leave with long term damage through blood clots.

Well, I wear a mask as the Mrs works in and around Covid. Every day is an adventure.

But his point was the science only says that medical masks work and sticking any old material over your mouth has very limited effect and there is no need to go there yet.

My fault, should have posted the full thing.

Scary thing is that we still don't know about the long term issues this things causes and how long they last.
Thinking about the blood clots etc which had been found in seemingly healthy / recovered people think one of them posts here/pr.

Mortality might drop which is fantastic, but could end up with a lot of people still needing hospital level care

Yup; if you can't get ready access to qualified doctors who can administer steroids, anti-clotting drugs and tonnes of oxygen (see most of the Developing World), you're fugged.

1st World hospitals hopefully can keep up, but people still have to take social distancing seriously and cancel their annual holiday to Spain for 2020. And stop whinging about it.

Positive tests in the UK plateauing a bit, even creeping up slightly. It would be good to understand how many of these were tests triggered by track and trace methods, particularly of asymptomatic cases. If they form a decent chunk of that number then I would actually see this as a positive that over time will lead to the number really being driven down.
